I would deffinetly say that I'm both. I always want my games to be in the best shape I possibly can. I have a few duplicates. When I come across good games I always make sure that I take the best parts of the duplicates to make "the best and most complete" copy I can. That way I can have the best for my collection and I sell/trade the second/third/forth best etc. But then I also love to play my games, if I'm not working or busy I'm most likely gaming. I also don't like to pay alot for what I get. There is times to where I'll buy one close to asking price but not very often. I'll normally play a game till I either I master it or just beat it. Sometimes until I just get bored with it. You got to have the ones that stray away from the statistics lol. |

When I think C/G (I'm gonna abbreviate that shit from now on, too much of a PITA to type it out every time, especially on my stupid phone) I think "reseller". You know, the guys that are collecting because they're either trying to resell right now, or that are planning on it being their retirement fund. Forte is obviously collecting what does because he's an obsessed fan with a little extra scratch to throw around. I think we've all made purchases that were only to help complete a series or just because we knew that it'd just be really cool to have. For me, one item I can think of right off the top of my head is FF8. I knew I hated it when I bought it, but when you own 1-7 & 9-10, it seems shitty to have that one title missing. That, and I got it for like 5 bucks sealed about a zillion years ago just after everyone realized that it was crap (if you feel differently about it, then I'm sorry, I just can't stand it). Maybe we need 3 categories? G/C, C/G, and C/R (Collector/Reseller). |

They tend to exploit people like us who are in it for the love of gaming/collecting. Now, allow me to make a distinction here. I do not feel any animosity what so ever towards those who tend to buy their games in lots and then pick out the few that they want to keep and turn around and sell (or trade) the rest. If part of what they buy goes towards their own collections, that's fine by me. I'm even ok with people buying games in order to try and complete a collection with the intention of selling their collection in the future. However, if they simply buy a sack full of games for a dollar with the express purpose of turning around and selling them for what they are "worth," then screw them. Allow others who actually care about the games to rescue them and love them. I'm also aware that there are exceptions to my "resellers are evil" rule (one fellow I buy from continues to empty boxes upon boxes of games from storage and sells them for relatively fair prices) but for the most part, they are a big problem and induce headaches. |
