Anyone listen to music while creating covers?

I'm sure some people do, I'm interested in knowing what cover you're currently working on and the song that's playing while your in the "zone". I personally have a very eclectic taste in music, but right now Miserable by Lit is playing and I'm working on the SNES Vertical Top Gear 3000 cover.

I've got a few playlists that I listen to all day, whether working on covers or working on work.

Lately it's been pretty much R&B and some occasional electronic stuff. Curtis Mayfield, Marvin Gaye, Sam & Dave, Otis Redding, Gil Scott-Heron, and some Prince for good measure.  It's it's electronic, then stuff like Justice, Prefuse 73, Daft Punk, DJ Shadow, & Chemical Brothers.

It just sorta depends on what I'm working on and my mood, of course.

Justice, Prefuse 73, Daft Punk, DJ Shadow, & Chemical Brothers.

 I like 3 of them (†, Daft + Chem Bros)....only heard Justice because of DJ Hero....same with DJ Shadow too.... If you don't mind vocals in your electronic music I highly recommend Pendulum (also heard from DJ Hero)

 My electronic tastes are more Trance, Dubstep (skrillex, Nero, MT Eden and Flux Pavillion) and the Happy 2b Hardcore CDs

Oh yes, being that I'm on an 8 year old computer with 8 year old software, creating covers can be more stressful to design without music. So when ever I'm doing something that requires a good amount of focus, I either randomize my YouTube playlist of music, my iTunes collection or listen to the radio.

Most of my music is rock, metal & alternative from the late 60's to the 90's. Bands like Black Sabbath, The Doors, Pink Floyd, Candlebox, Skid Row, Alice In Chains, The Offspring, Nirvana, Collective Soul, Judas Priest, Van Halen, Motley Crue, Dio, Aerosmith, Foo Fighters to name a few of my favs for those eras.

Of course when a few specific songs come on my workflow increases because of their meaning to me, very special to say the least.

Without music, my slow 1 core, hour glass showing, capacitor bulging, software crashing over stupid little things computer would seriously be out the window, smashed with a sledgehammer many times and then set on fire for good measure.

Lol, I know what you mean. When you're working on a cover that is REALLY gonna take some time, music is about the only thing that can keep you from rage quitting. I'll go through an entire series of albums at a time: Billy Joel, Sam Cooke, Dion and the Belmonts, Kid Cudi, Busta Rhymes, Empire of the Sun, Ozma, Sublime and so on... Going through all of the Reel Big Fish albums now, do we have any ska lovers in these forums?

Well, thanks.  I don't know if you've heard me reference it before, but I worked in new/used music & game retail for about 7 years before going back to college.  I taste was confined to a pretty narrow spectrum before that job, and after years of listening to everyone elses crap, I eventually started to expand my library a bit

I'll give it a try, thanks.  I'm sorta iffy on lyrics in my electronic.  Chemical Bros. and wacky-ass Bjork remixes work for me, but most electronic with lyrics really puts me off for some reason.  I liked trance a LOT in high school and still have a good supply of it sitting here, I just don't listen to it much anymore.  On a side note, I had this really kick-ass sample from a FSOL album on my answering machine when I was in highschool (I'm old, that's what we had back in the 16th century).  From the Exorcist I think.  I used to listen to that disc all.  the.  time.  I think it was on ISDN.  

I dig dubstep, but I find that it pretty much all sounds the same to me :/

Have you heard anything by Ceremonial Castings? Don't know much about sub-genres of metal, but I think they're classified as "black metal". I really dig their song "Come forth damnation", but I can pretty much listen to anything they have. I also really like Dethklok, they're awesome.

I havnt heard of Ceremonial Castings, but I will try them out, as for Dethklok and metalocalypse, I'd rather shove hot embers into my eyes and ears sorry to say. Lol.

I bet you all can guess what I listen to.
LED ZEPPELIN or The Rolling Stones. I tend do not listen to music when I work because I tend to just drown it out when I'm concentrating. I was lessening to a LP once and my record player restarts the LP once it gets to the end, so one time I was listening to a Black Sabbath or Santana album and side A looped 4-5 times before I really realized.
I mostly like to listen to podcasts or a talk show or whatever while I work, Some web shows I like are "What The F*ck Is Wrong With You?" from Radio Dead Air, "Tuesday Tech Talk" "This Week In Games" and "How To Do It" from Lordkat, and any of the Cinema Snob videos, like "Midnight Screening" Even if I Do not care what they are saying, I tend to concentrate better.
