I have never liked Super Mario kart (SNES).  I could never quite put my finger on it!  The lack of a joystick makes the karts awful to control, but there was always something more about it that I loathed....  Yesterday, it hit me!  The bottom Fu***** screen!!!  What the f&*#?  It is so annoying and it does not appear to turn off, it always looks like a split screen for a 2-player game.  Is there any way to play this game full screen like Mario Kart 64 and the rest?  >:(

You can try to zoom it in somehow.

No, I mean within the game..  Like I don't see any options menu or any settings...  I try pushing the X button but it just changes the image in the bottom screen.

Are you playing the game on your actual SNES system or are you using an emulator?

Assuming your playing SNES version, if your doing single player it will always do the split screen. Multiplayer will actually use the bottom screen for player 2

Playing it on the actual SNES.  No way out of this, huh?

Unless you have a monitor that allow you to change the screen's positioning and size to an extreme level.

I play all my old consoles through an expensive upscaler so I do have that option.  I was just hoping for a natural way.

Or, going totally into a different direction, if you have a Gamecube with a Gameboy Advance player attachment, get yourself "Mario Kart: Super Circuit" where you can unlock classic "Super Mario Kart" tracks. Worth a try.  :D

If you want to play 1 player using the bottom half (and having the top part as a proper rear view mirror), hold L and R on controller 2 and start a game using controller 2.
