The Sega Saturn and the Playstation 3 have a lot in common.  Let's start with the overpriced release of the consoles, both were asking at launch way more than they were really worth.  Next is where they fall in their generational history.  In the war of N64 vs Saturn vs. PSOne, Saturn was the least successful of consoles sold.  That is the same case for the PS3 which has sold fewer consoles than the Wii and 360.

Also, lets not forget their attempts to boost their systems with unique controllers -- Saturn had the 3D Pad (used for Nights into Dreams) and PS3 has the MOVE.  With all these things in common, and my LOVE for the Saturn and my deep regret for purchasing a PS3, I must ask my friends here:  If you could only have one of these consoles, which would it be?  Please vote in the poll!

I've got both, And its impossible for me to chose.
I bought the saturn for 20 bucks in perfect shape with ilke 15 games, 2 controllers, and all the hookups.
I got my ps3 for free.

sooo. yup.

but if I had to chose, the ps3 I'm more happy with.

After thinking which console has more unique games I want to play, I chose PS3.

PS3: R&C games = 2
SAT: Bomberman = 1

I love my ps3.  I despise the 360 controller, and in fact have not unpacked my 360 since moving 18 months ago -  the only console that has remained boxed.  Ps3 gets more play time than anything else for me.

I like the saturn, great for fighters and shooters,  but again the ps1 got more play time during that era.

If I had to choose only 1, the ps3 wins by a mile.  Now if you asked me to choose between dreamcast and ps3 I'd find it a lot more difficult to make my choice.

I vote for Saturn. Sega Saturn has been my all time favorite console since i bought it @ launch. The quality of the imports is what did it for me, plus reliabilty. All my friends chose the ps1 while i chose Saturn because back then i was all about Capcom's fighters. Saturn had a better controller for fighting games and capcom's ports played better on Saturn than ps1. (im aware that's opinion but alot of people who own both consoles ive talked to agree).

Comparing to ps3 id still choose the saturn because THIS GEN in gaming blows IMO. Ive never seen a gen that has so many broken and unfinished games like this gen. I still love my ps3 though, the exclusives that the PlayStation brand gets is unrivaled IMO. Out of all the consoles i own, the Call Of Duty Box (360) is the console i wish i NEVER wasted money on. Only games on that piece that i actually liked are Halo & Gears of War 1 & 2, havent played Gears 3 cause the 360 has been long gone since i had 4 of them replaced. that and i am no fan of anything Microsoft. Im not fond of a company who constantly releases broken unfinished crap (360, WINDOWS)

I rambled i apologize.

I love my ps3.  I despise the 360 controller

Really?!

Why is that exactly?  I'm curious as it's my absolute favorite controller.

i just don't feel it sits in my hand properly - the D-pad is too stiff, the weight seems off.  And it gave me the worst blisters when SF2 turbo HD was released - lol.

I guess it comes down to me being a PS1/PS2/PS3 player more than XBX/360 and never got used to it - but i hated it from day 1.  Was also not a fan of the DC controller for quite some time - but now i quite like it.  PS controllers just feel the most intuitive to me.

PS3 is my favorite console of all time. The Saturn has a few cool unique games but they pail in comparison to the broad scope of games on PS3. Journey, Uncharted, Tomba, and Persona 4, are my favorite games of all time and I played them all on my PS3.

If any complaints about the 360 controller is the weight and battery life lol however its a great controller

Honestly tho, Gamecube controller was great to me, throw a second joystick (full size non yellow one) and its perfect lol

I second that opinion. I thought I was alone when I bought a PS2/GameCube/Xbox on launch day LOVING the GameCube controller. I actually like the "c-stick" and the form factor of the controller. I remember the day Timesplitters 2 came out on the system (don't remember why I decided to pick it up on GameCube over Xbox or PS2, I love them all) I was very comfortable playing FPS games even though there wasn't too many quality ones on the system.

When talking about this generation of consoles, I have favorite controller for different types of games. I love my 360 controller exclusively for FPS games. Wii obviously for motion controls, I actually like the form factor and responsiveness over the Move controller, I own the move and play a lot of games with it so I'm not a PS hater by any stretch of the imagination. I love my PS3 controller for about everything else - I play a WIDE variety of games and the PS controller is hands down my favorite for Madden games strangely.
