How will you ever learn if you always expect the admins to make your cover much better?
When did I ever say I expected them to do it?  ???

Wow, it's been almost a whole year since this thread has been updated!! No love for the ol' NGP, guys? ;)

Well, in printing all the cases I needed for my collection, I ran into an issue with the Sonic Pocket Adventure cover that's currently hosted on the site. (Seriously, Cover Admins, it just needs to be deleted. The JPEG file must be corrupted, because I could not open it with any photo editing software, except for one. And, when it does open, it is obvious that it has suffered SEVERE dithering and quality degradation. It looked like trash when I printed it. Something must be wrong with the file.)

Since I just so happen to have an extreme plethora of high-res Sonic the Hedgehog official art on my computer, I figured I would just take the template and completely rebuild the cover from scratch. It has changed a little bit from retail, but the changes are very minor improvements. Here's what I came up with.

The cover can be downloaded from my Mediafire account linked in my signature. Hope I helped somebody else out with this besides myself! ;D

Also, does anybody on this forum happen to have raw scans for Metal Slug 2nd Mission?

The way I got it to open was using Paint and then saving it as a jpeg. I don't know why Paint worked. It does look pretty bad.

I've been meaning to upload my scan for a while now.

Oh man! Could you PLEASE make that happen? I know there are a few people looking for it, myself included. If you scan it, I'll put the cover together.

I actually have a few games that I have scanned/need to scan. I also have a few covers made so when I get a chance, I'll upload the RAWs to TCP, and upload the covers to my Box.net account. I'll post (soon) when I've done it.

I'm pretty sure you'll need to upload the raws to your Box.net as well. I'm pretty sure ALL of the upload features on this site are down.

Yes.

So, what are/were you guys storing these in?  I'd love to find a lot of used clam shells, but I don't think that's gonna happen any time soon.  Anyone found a simple and effective way to secure these in a DS case?  Sorry, I didn't see info about this anywhere else, so please pardon me if I've just overlooked it somehow.

It's not the recommended method, but I didn't want to lose the little Shockboxes they come with, so, I put them in like this. it's actually a perfect fit! the surface tnesion of the DS case keeps it from moving around. I don't have the manuals but I doubt they'd fit if I did.

Hmm, I didn't think about keeping them in the little dust covers.

Anyway, found a really simple solution.  Look at the pics and you can most likely figure out how I made it work...

Before.

After.

ah, you melt those jagged plastic edges down too?

I use an old worn down soldering iron for that

I've just been using a knife to trim the jaggies.  These aftermarket cases are about as soft as butter LOL!

A hot knife/soldering iron will probably do a better job of putting the heat JUST where you need it, but I was afraid that it'd be messy, so I didn't bother trying.

Dammit, so now I have a collection of NGP games with 4 different case types :/

US paper case, JP paper case, clamshell, and DS case.  I had no desire to make cases for all of them, but I feel like I have to since they're all completely different sizes. I wish I could find a lot of cheap-ass games in clamshell cases.  I don't really wanna use DS cases when there's already a perfect case made for the games.  Argh.

metal slug 2nd

samurai shodown

the main images may need cleanig up, however as im mostly looking at the spines im not gonna bother working on them anymore, however, feel free to clean them if you wish!
