I, too, am a physical media kind of guy.  While I love the convenience of having, say, a bunch of stuff loaded onto my 3DS - the fact that I don't own it and that Nintendo reserves the right to take it away from me at any time for any reason... ugh.

In my opinion - if you actually, truly own the game (like stuff you download from GOG), then, sure - it counts.  If it's something that the terms of your purchase make it clear that you're just purchasing a license to the game and cannot (legally) resell it... then it's not a part of your collection.

Now, if the game has some kind of remote server dependance (even if you own the physical copy)... that's virtually the same as having a game that the publishers can take away from you at any time for any reason (although there is always the possibility of hacked servers).  I pretty much just avoid these types of games  - which is why I've not purchased Civ 5, although I've got every previous version of the game, including CivNet... :(

Buuut, I see a lot of you guys "casing" digital-only games, and that just doesn't make sense to me.

never understood this either.

I'm OCD as FUCK, but that's a bit much.  Hell, I even cased each individual E-reader NES game, but digital download casing is beyond me.

I make a distinction between my game "collection" and my game "library".  Digital games are part of my game library, but not my game collection.

I like to case digital games if they make up part of a series of games I own in a physical form. So say I owned the Final Fantasy VII and IX in their cases physical form, and only owned VIII digitally I would want to make a case for it to fit in my collection.

Also I just like to look at my collection to figure out what to play (or when someone comes over and wants to play a game by seeing it's box), and digital versions tend to get forgotten because of that.

I could them if I purchased them. Sonic 4 Episode I for Android? Sure. I paid for it. It's a game. Any of the Angry Birds games? I don't count them. I may have played them quite a bit, but I don't count them as actual games.

I really only count games that are only available digitally, like Mutant Mudds on my 3DS for example.

Wanted GB bootlegs: Spiritual Warfare, Sonic 8 (rumble), Mario DX (GBA), Donkey Kong II (GBA)

You want to talk about OCD? I'm trying to get boxes made for games that don't really even exist (Rockman 7 FC and Rockman 8 FC).

As far as Backloggery-ness goes... I do count them, as I did pay for them... (or someone else did)
However, I much, much, MUCH, rather have a physical copy over digital.
Mostly because I tend to forget about my games if they aren't proudly displayed on a shelf, (I'm just forgetful in general...) but also because I tend to want to play a game more if I can look at the back of the game, crack open the case, and maybe sift through the manual a bit. (my boyfriend doesn't understand this though XD)
Not to mention how gorgeous some covers can be D:
But as much as I like physical copies, making cases for digital-only games seems a little too OCD for me ><;
But I am thinking of purchasing some physical copies of games that I already own digitally... but only the ones I really like :>
(and plus I've heard that the controls for the first Assassin's Creed are waaay better on the XBox/Ps3...)

On the side note, I'm very glad that I'm not the only one who prefers their games cased :>

There was a steady stream of spam, and the last post cut it off and thought it was funny.
I also posted that at 4 AM during a heat wave and I have no AC.

But back on topic, before when I was talking about my digital games, my 3 Wiiware games and Minecraft and Portal on the PC, and I completely forgot about other games i got from steam, indie game bundles, and Virtual Console. So a advantage is you know what you have.

And at Staf - Angry Birds is a game, If it is not, than Tetris, Space Invaders, Dr. Mario, Donkey Kong, Arkanoid/ Brake Out, Pong and any basic game from early in game history is not a game. Sure its not the best game, and it completely rips off another, and the company is merchandising it to hell for no reason, but it can be played. Its a game.
