Are GameCube Disks supposed to be see-through?

Finally got registered, after my username being deleted (or something like that) a number of times ><

Anyways...
I remember hearing from somewhere that disks aren't supposed to be see-through, or something like that...
The disk (Crystal Chronicles to be exact) that I have has barely any scratches on it, and it gets to the start up screen at least...
But I can't test it any further than that since I don't have a Gamecube controller (I left mine at home ><)
I've checked a few other Gamecube disks of mine (that definitely work) but they aren't see-though...
So could it being see-though be a problem? Or is that just a label thing?

I'm mostly asking because this will be a gift for my bf, (once I print off a cover for it) and the last thing I want is to give him a broken game ><

See through as in holes or see through as in light just generally passes through?

If it's the former, no, that shouldn't be the case.  If it's the latter, then yes, optical discs employ a seriously thin metallic layer that is basically perforated thousands of times.  As long as the printed graphics on the disc aren't too heavy, then light WILL pass through most optical discs.
