I've spent the last couple of weeks in between work shifts working on this set of covers. I realize that this work probably seems all for naught since everyone seems eager to transition over to 3DS-sized covers, but I was already more than halfway done with these before the idea of using 3DS cases really started picking up steam. Oh well, having all of this work already done will make it easy for me to transition them over.

I didn't stretch any of the original cover scans. I just re-sized them enough to fit the main details of the covers and moved them around until they looked good. Then I altered the cover art slightly (where needed) so I could remove the original Nintendo seals present on the scans and use the much nicer ones in the templates (plus keeping them all in the same place). I re-did all of the game logos myself to make them look really nice, and re-created the backs from scratch. All of the spines should also line up nicely on the shelf.

I put a lot of work into re-creating these for standard DS cases, and I hope that you like them. I'll eventually transition them over to 3DS covers, but these will stay available for those who want them. Cheers.

EDIT: Covers replaced with newer versions which have drop shadows on the edge of the silver Game Boy border on the front.

Not me. I have zero interest in using the 3DS size cases for anything besides 3DS games. I like the DS cases because they leave more space on the spine for art and are thick enough for large manuals.

Good job on the covers, look nice  :)

I'm with Shenske. DS cases for anything from the DS back. 3DS cases are for 3DS games only on my shelf. And I think we needed a cleaned up Mega Man gameboy set.

A quick query about my Mega Man covers that I'd like feedback on:

Some of my favorite GB covers (visually speaking) are Shenske's Pokemon covers and Super Mario Land covers, not to mention Lumberjack42's Zelda covers. All of these covers have a drop shadow on the edge of the silver "Game Boy" border on the front. I just realized that this is something I could easily add to my Mega Man covers.

Do you guys like the drop shadow on covers? If so, should my covers have them? I'm kinda on the fence; I'm not sure if it would benefit them at all. However, if that's something that people want, I can easily add it. Please let me know what you think.

Your call. I do it on all of mine since many GB/GBC/GBA silver bar on the front of the box have a drop shadow. I just tried to match that. It was more common in later games but i keep it on all for consistency sake.

I checked them out side-by-side and found that the ones with drop shadows seem to "pop" more, and just overall seem more visually appealing. So I've replaced the download links in my previous post with the newer versions of the covers, and will be incorporating drop shadows into all future Game Boy covers.

Thanks for the vote of confidence. ;D I've submitted them for consideration; I hope they get approved.

For me, the biggest draw for using 3DS cases would be the fact that original GB carts fit inside without any trimming needed (although they do need spacers to be stored properly). And although trimming DS cases isn't necessary for GBA games (assuming you're putting them in the old-style DS cases), fitting the instruction manuals inside still requires some trimming on the inside cover. I haven't yet dedicated my handheld collection to one format or the other; all of my GBA games are still in their original boxes where applicable, and all my old GB games are safely tucked away in a box. I'm still not sure which route to take.

I may just keep to this format as well, but the 3DS cover template is very nice and is set up in a such a way that re-sizing back covers no longer becomes an issue. There are tons of covers for GB and GBA alike that suffer from the re-sizing issue, and not having to worry about that anymore is an attractive prospect.  I think I might put together some kind of hybrid of the two, unless its creator/s beat me to it.

I'm going to re-size my template and all my covers to DS cases soon.
The only difference between the two is the spine.

Well then, far be it from me to get between a pro and his work. I'll say "thanks in advance" instead, and wait to print/work on any more covers until the DS-sized version becomes available. Cheers.

I had an idea a few days ago. We know that DS cases also have Gameboy Advance Slots, right? So why not take advantage of that? The only thing I could think of, was the first Pokemon Mystery Dungeon, which was released on both Gameboy Advance and Nintendo DS.

A simple cover, but it gets the job done. Any thoughts? Things to add or change?
