This is one of the games I never understood why it wasn't released in europe...

2 + 3 = 23

another reason why i think all games should be released without region locks and in multple language formats  some things would never get released outside of japan  ( like Namco X Capcom ) which means you either have to a. import ( and find translation notes online) b. go without or c. hope someone fan translates  and releases it across the web ( which is bootlegging , not cool )

I agree. That is exactly why the Game Boy is one of my favorites. No region lock of any kind.

International copyright law is a bitch.  Which is both the reason that there were region lockouts on almost every console for decades (even if it was just plastic tabs that wouldn't let you insert a cartridge into a system of a different region), and why there are no lockouts on most modern consoles.

On one hand it's super, SUPER difficult to enforce international copyright.

On the other hand it's super, SUPER difficult to enforce international copyright.

You can either fight infringement like crazy, or you can just say 'fuck it', as it's absolutely not worth all the headache since it solves almost nothing and ends up costing a LOT of money for that giant heap of nothing.

I kinda wanna call BS on that, cause IIRC all of current consoles are region locked. AFAIK the only region free system is the PS Vita.

True, but I can't think any PS3 game that actually uses the lock-out.

PS3 is completely region free (as far as games go) and the XBOX360 has lockout, but most games seem to not employ it.  The Wii is pretty much the only one holding on to that tired-ass tradition.

supposedly itsthe game companies who are pushing for region locks more than the console makers which i dont understand , if i buy a legitimate copy of a game from any region its still the parent company who sees the profit, unless it was used . it just never made sense to me,ive imported games on gamecube, ps2, ds, Saturn, and psp (mostly fighting titles, no reading needed) . and would have bought more  if they were easily available. sp the parent company would have made more profit in the long run

it's becasue the companies have different regional budgets.  so if sony america spend 2 million advertising a game, and you buy the game in europe, then sony america do not see the profit, and the money they spent on advertising is effectively wasted.  Yes sony corp as a whole still see the profit, but the company is just to0 large to look at the big picture - they need the geographic divisions to all be viable markets.
