another reason why i think all games should be released without region locks and in multple language formats some things would never get released outside of japan ( like Namco X Capcom ) which means you either have to a. import ( and find translation notes online) b. go without or c. hope someone fan translates and releases it across the web ( which is bootlegging , not cool ) |

Which is both the reason that there were region lockouts on almost every console for decades (even if it was just plastic tabs that wouldn't let you insert a cartridge into a system of a different region), and why there are no lockouts on most modern consoles. On one hand it's super, SUPER difficult to enforce international copyright. On the other hand it's super, SUPER difficult to enforce international copyright. You can either fight infringement like crazy, or you can just say 'fuck it', as it's absolutely not worth all the headache since it solves almost nothing and ends up costing a LOT of money for that giant heap of nothing. |
