Hey guys, I really find the wii wrist straps annoying....  Can anyone give me a reason not to get rid of it?  Any games you strongly suggest I use it?  Also, how can I get it off without cutting it or making it impossible to put back on if I ever change my mind?

It just unties dude. You don't need to cut it. I keep them (in the Wii system box, along with the Wii "condoms") just because I don't wanna throw em out. But I never use them, especially if you have things like Guitar Hero, DJ Hero, Wii guns and hold the controller sideways for stuff like New SMB.

  • Your words are as empty as your soul!
pull on the loop look for the area that looks like this

==(==

pull the one that goes outside the other two pieces of the cord and you'll get it out without damaging it.

I still have one unbroken original Wii wrist strap. I wonder if that will be worth anything someday.

I have 4 original straps, all but one is in their original "packaging" (the little blue plastic sleeve that they came in).  I doubt they'll be worth anything, but who knows...

Also you can get them free from nintendo. You send them serial number of your system and send you up to 4 at a time. Thats what i did when i wanted to replace my abused ones.

I bought 3 additional wiimotes within the first month of purchasing my launch system. I'm still using the original wrist straps. People just can't be stupid while playing and actually throw the controller assuming the strap will save them.

I got the Wii right before college and i required that everyone use the wrist strap.  If they did not use the strap and dropped the remote they were done playing on my system, forever.  People also have to rinse their hands before using my controllers.  Yeah ... i'm 'that guy'

Shenske, I'm with ya.

I've become more lenient with friends that I know own one/have played the Wii a lot, but people like my 10 year-old brother-in-law are on the perma-strap list.

Also, they're great for portables if you like a strap for them ;)

I've got 12 straps I think. The initial straps, the "beefier" straps that came out within a couple of months of launch, and then the straps with the locking clip as well. Hey, they were free. I wasn't gonna pass em up even though I almost never use them for my Wii ;D

Funny you say that, I'm the same way with controllers, wash your hands before you use my controllers. Also the one I use which is mostly always first player I only use it, call me weird but I can't stand using other peoples controllers nor can I stand someone using my controller, it's yea.  ::)
