I have actually done this and I'm not sure if this has been covered but you don't actually have to cut or modify the cart doors at all. Actually, if you open them and sand out the plastic nobs which keep the jap carts from fitting is all you need to do. I did this with a dremel tool with a round sander bit. You will need to remove the top of the system and the grey plastic piece that fits under the cart doors. This is the part that you will want to sand off. If you take your time and if you have a jap n64 cart to see what nobs I'm talking about this will be easy. Overall, This will keep the n64 looking stock and you won't have to expand that cart doors because the us and jap n64 carts are the same size just the bottom of the cart is different. The only bad part is that there isn't really a lot of japanese games that don't alreadly have us counterparts. By the way, you will need the nintendo screw bit to remove the top but this can be purchased on ebay.

We know.  That's what we're saying.  Did you not see the pic I posted?

There's absolutely no reason to modify the opening for the N64 or the SNES.

Yeah I saw the the previous posts but no one really went into a description about it. Sorry I just figured I would go into detail but most of this has been covered already. I didn't realize this until after I hit post...
