NTSC-J carts on NTSC N64?

Snowcone:

TCPers,

What's involved in playing NTSC-J carts on my US N64?

Arseen:

Same as SNES, remoive the tabs inside cart slot.

wiggy:

Yup, they just take a little more work to remove.  I'd strongly recommend disassembling the N64 to do it, whereas a chisel and hammer will make really quick work of the SNES tabs.

No, don't do that! :'(
It looks really bad when you "cut" your N64. Just replace the back of a Japanese cartridge, since there's no region lock, other than the "tab" itself. You can buy those cheap American N64 cartridges (like sports games) to do it.

No it doesn't if you do it well.

wiggy:

Plus, when are you even gonna see it?  Do you perform a visual inspection of the cartridge bay every time you use it  ???

Come on, folks.  The N64 isn't exactly a rare treasure.  It's gonna be OK if a few get a little plastic surgery.
