I'm about 99% sure that's a myth. I worked in food service for a while during high school and then a bit while in college and I handled the soda delivery at the pizza shop that worked for while in college. I don't recall seeing anything like that on either Pepsi's or Coke's trucks, and that's the sort of thing that I'd take notice of. Still, the stuff is gross, like you said. Makes my teeth feel like they're made out of cardboard after one :/ |

I don't see why factories would transport any syrup that only they would use. They do everything in house. Make syrup, produce drinkable beverage, bottle/can, package, ship. The only syrup that they'd ship would be the stuff that goes to retail. |

No they do use outside bottling plants sometimes. |
