I've bought games with more stickers than I can imagine. I've bought dirty games. I've bought games with people's names written on them in permanent black marker. Goo Gone is my best friend for the sticker residue, though some games still have marker on them no matter how much Goo Gone I apply. I've yet to try anything else. Any recommendations?

No amount of permanent marker has ever been able to stand up to my Mr. Clean Magic Erasers, especially the  Extra Strength ones. I've used it on action figures, cartridges, models and it all comes off within a few seconds of rubbing. If you can get access to those, you should try that. just be careful on or around labels. The only thing it doesn't get off is sticker residue. Pink erasers might also do the trick.

Those things are fairly abrasive though.  They scuff the carts pretty well in my experience :(

I've never had that problem... ??? At least my cartridges look and feel fine, which is all that matters to me. I've never had it visibly damage any of my carts. Or anything I've used it on.

Rental labels on the front game label makes me really pissed off or the rental or price sticker on the artwork. It's impossible to remove these without damaging the goods. I'm really ocd about labels that can't be cleaned or removed. As for food and other slime that can't be cleaned is mostly junk and I really don't collect it. As for some with ripped labels and what not I try to stay away from it but I own a few that are too expensive to re-purchase. I did do some custom paint jobs on the smoker's stain nes and ps1 but they were free which were buried in a crawlspace. The one intrestering thing with rental labels is I have found some games in the wild with some strange places. For example, I have a game that came from some hole in the wall in hawaii. All in all, the name writting on the art, manual, or cart is annoying but can be removed with goo gone and cleaning products.

You sure it wasn't Goof Off, not Goo Gone?

Goo Gone is just orange oil, and flat out CAN'T breakdown ABS like that.

Goof Off contains Xylene.  I don't know what that shit is safe for, but it's no good on plastics of any sort that I've encountered :(

It was goo gone extreme lol

Well, I can see why it melted your cart based on the spec sheet.  Caustic shit.

I don't understand that majority of that document, but I saw the notice of it being extremely flammable at room temperature. Why would anyone sell something like that, when it catches fire so easily?

There's thousands of products that are EXTREMELY flammable that you probably use every day.

The toulene is what will totally break down the ABS plastic.  That shit it no joke.

The best way to remove goo from games?
Try to find a room with no ventilation and get a bucket. Mix some ammonia and bleach... presto!
You won't care about goo on the carts!

*Do not actually do this...

Cleaned toilet once with such mixture, smelled like hell but got the bowl clean without  any scrubbing.
Scary thing is that Igot as good results with Coca-Cola, but not Pepsi. I still drink Coke though...

Someone sent me a 'Coke facts' email a long time ago where it said that the syrup that Coke uses has to be transported in trucks with a hazardous materials warning on it.  Dunno if that was just one of those internet rumours, but with the way that shit feels on your teeth after you drink it I wouldn't be surprised.  I don't drink soda but once in a blue moon so maybe they've changed it since the last time I had it, but still...ugh.  :-X

I'm about 99% sure that's a myth.  I worked in food service for a while during high school and then a bit while in college and I handled the soda delivery at the pizza shop that worked for while in college.

I don't recall seeing anything like that on either Pepsi's or Coke's trucks, and that's the sort of thing that I'd take notice of.

Still, the stuff is gross, like you said.  Makes my teeth feel like they're made out of cardboard after one :/

Pizza places get the diluted syrup, only the bottling factories get the strong stuff [he says in his most paranoid voice]

I don't see why factories would transport any syrup that only they would use.   They do everything in house.  Make syrup, produce drinkable beverage, bottle/can, package, ship.  The only syrup that they'd ship would be the stuff that goes to retail.

No they do use outside bottling plants sometimes.
