Hmm, that's what I did with BK:N&B. I almost never have time to play games for days in a row. I thought it was easy to play for an hour or two, put down for a week if need be, then start back up. That's also how I tend to play games. I don't have time for Final Fantasy and other stuff like that. I loved epic adventures when I was younger, but I just don't have the time or desire anymore :/ I have a lot of friends that do the same (sit for 5+ hours at a time, day after day). I just can't do that. I've got that Nintendo vid cued up. As soon as I'm sick of 3D modeling for the day, I'm gonna watch it :) Yeah, I agree 100% with you on the end-all, be-all media device nonsense. Of course they WANT you to be tethered to their proprietary storage cloud, media format, etc. It's fucking garbage. I have no interest in purchasing games/music/movies over and over again. No to mention that you're not even buying the music/games/etc., but rather just a license that can be revoked at any time, for any reason. Um, no thanks. I do wish Nintendo embraced a bit of the stuff that Sony and Microsoft push. The Wii does feel stunted in some ways (beyond the obvious outdated hardware specs). But, if I had to choose between super-duper everything machine or a box that just plays games, I'd definitely go with the latter. Nobody buys a PS3/360 to act as an all-in-one box. They buy 'em to play games. There are far better options for a media box like a cheap-ass PC with a giant hard drive. |

I think you and I speak the same language. :P I've never played a Final Fantasy game either, and really the only RPGs I've played were the Mario ones (even then never played through the Paper Mario games all the way). And admittedly I've only played a couple Zelda games, and never finished Ocarina of Time. Might have to give Nuts and Bolts another try, it just seemed dauntingly complicated at first, especially when the other BK games weren't. Yeah the Wii is stunted. In fact, that's the original reason I got my 360 - to play the games that could have been on Wii, but weren't or weren't as good (HD Sonic games,The Force Unleashed, BK: Nuts and Bolts, etc). But I think WiiU fixes that issue. A funny bit of news regarding Sony: http://gonintendo.com/?mode=viewstory&id=178575 . At least they aren't making any pretense about it anymore. Not sure what to think about their book peripheral thingy... Speaking of Smash Bros., though I doubt there will be any news, I've got a few characters I'd love to see, many of which are 3rd party characters that were on old Nintendo consoles: <fanboy> -Geno (Mario RPG) -Knuckles -Mega Man (Classic) -Mega Man X -Bomberman -Rayman -Banjo & Kazooie (almost certainly won't happen, but I can dream) -Mii </fanboy> |

That was a nice Squaresoft touch and it was a 'Wait, what?' moment for me when I first played it. So even if you've never played one, you still have had a small taste of an FF game. ;) |

I thought Nintendo's press conference was pretty bad. - No WiiU price or release date - Not very many games shown (he wasted several minutes talking about how they didn't have enough time to show stuff) - No 3DS redesign as was rumored - Wasted a lot of time on Nintendo Land which is basically a demo for the Game Pad (like Wii sports for the Wii Remote) - The third party support wasn't all that great or is too late (i.e. Mass Effect 3) The new Mario Game looked sweet but it will take more than that for me to buy one. Overall I'd say Sony's was the best and it wasn't even that good. |

I'll play other things, but that's my bread and butter ;) --- Quote from: TyrannicalFascist on June 04, 2012, 10:23:22 PM --- :P I've never played a Final Fantasy game either, and really the only RPGs I've played were the Mario ones (even then never played through the Paper Mario games all the way). --- End quote --- If you ever get the itch to try FF, my absolute fav is 6. It's pretty long, but not silly long like 7 and pretty much everything after that. Plus, it's 2D. Once they moved to 3D with pre-rendered backdrops it became really difficult to navigate and find things that aren't important like doors and such while wandering around town. You know, nothing that you really need to be able to find or anything :-\ --- Quote from: TyrannicalFascist on June 04, 2012, 10:23:22 PM --- And admittedly I've only played a couple Zelda games, and never finished Ocarina of Time. Making the vehicles to accomplish goals was really great fun for me. Check out some of the crazy solutions that people have found for various missions on youtube. It's crazy how simple or convoluted you can get and still accomplish the goal, sometimes in a way that Rare obviously didn't expect. Even after I beat it and got every single item, I still went back and just built crazy machines. My little brother-in-law who's 10 loves just sitting around and making wacky vehicles with me. It's good times :) --- Quote from: mojoeskateco on June 05, 2012, 12:32:11 PM ---I thought Nintendo's press conference was pretty bad. Nintendo has NEVER been very open about any of that stuff. I'd wager November this year at about 300-350 bucks with 4-5 1st party titles. I bet Mario isn't a launch title (hasn't been for the last 2 systems) and out of those 4-5, only one will be a franchise that dates back to the NES/SNES era. I'm gonna guess: * Some sort of adult/casual gamer title along the lines of brain age. * A sports/fitness title (Wii Sports, Sports Resort) * An action puzzler of some sort that does a great job of making use of the new controller, but ultimately feels like a 3DS or cell phone game (i.e. isn't worth nearly the 50-60 bucks that they're gonna want for it). May make use of an existing franchise like Pikmin or something * A hobbled together title that utilizes one of their bigger franchises (Luigi's Mansion comes to mind) * And if there's a 5th title, then I'd expect it to be something totally unexpected and will likely be the best title for the system at launch even though it won't be the biggest seller by a long shot. |
