That Threads of Fate ciover looks pretty good. The only issue I'd worry about is looking too faded when printed out. Is there no way to make the background art just a bit more vibrant?

I may look at that. I have it printed out, and it works. But the artwork is very faded looking - more faded than I intended. It's a simply matter of changing the opacity on the layers in Photoshop. Originally, I had opted to fade it out to help hide that it was less-than-stellar quality artwork that I had doctored up just a bit to try and make it work well. I thought it was a bit odd that there were no custom covers for the game, and a part of that may be the lack of any kind of high resolution artwork. All of the official artwork Square released, that I have be able to find, is small. I wasn't even able to find a logo more than 200ish pixels wide (the logo I used is cut out of the cover scan).

I will brighten up the photos and see how it works out. Just don't want the artwork to appeal too pixelated.

@Lumberjack: Great stuff. Too bad I don't own those games, huh? :P

Threads of Fate Take 2. I went a bit beyond just brightening up the photos. I decided to look at using the original front and back again, and it turns out the cover scans worked out much better than anything else I found. It still had to be stretched some, but not nearly to the extent of the others. Unfortunately, the odd placement of some things on the back of it make that much more difficult to use. I added in some of the text I had left off previously and brightened up the artwork. I think this one turned out much, much better than before.

I'm not the best at this nifty little 3D thing, so pardon my slightly off center looking cover. The image also makes the back a bit difficult to read. I was worried about that when I was creating it, but it seems to only be a monitor thing. With the cover printed out and in the case, it's not difficult to read at all. Now, if for some odd reason you were trying to read the back of the cover from several feet away, then it might be more difficult.

Again, I really do appreciate anything you have to say, even if you're trying to make me cry. I intend to cover everything I have (got a loooooot of Super NES stuf to do  :-\ ....or request), so I would hope that I can get better as I go.  ;)

Yumil, that's looks really good, but, if I really wanted to nit-pick I'd bemoan the lack of wrap-around cover art on the spine. Look at the BoF covers above, the wrap around art improves the custom covers big time IMO. As it is it looks really good, but why not go for the gusto? ;D

Vicman, I almost ignored you. I too prefer to have the art wrap around the spine. I included this in the faded "take one" and removed it in "take 2" because the artwork just wouldn't play nice. It was much better quality than the previous stuff, but still wasn't quite what I needed to do whatever I wanted with it. I could have stretched it just a tad more and probably gotten away with fine quality, but the logo would have been off center and all wrong.

So, I was ready to quit and then just happened to open up my copy of the game and saw my manual (which is, of course, the cover from the CD case) and noticed how....perfect it was. I've only had the game since about a week before Christmas, but whoever had it before me took amazing care with the manual. It looks like I bought a brand new game. And even though my previous scanning attempts ended in complete failure, I decided to give it one more shot. And, well, I couldn't be happier. 600dpi scan that required no upsizing, just a large amount of shrinking.

Then I decided that I had an great image to work with, so why not give the vertical one a shot too? I saw that poll Shenske started about which people preferred, and saw the many complaints about how hard the vertical stuff was to work with. So, I found out for myself just how annoying it is, but also how much fun it could be. Unfortunately, my scan didn't just flop onto the area like it did before. Instead, I ended up with something that is far more custom, but I'm very pleased with it.

So, thanks for nagging me, because I'm very pleased with the results of it. However, please no more because I hate reposting the same covers over and over and over again. Here's "take 3," the final one for Threads of Fate.

I never imagined making these covers would be so much fun. I'm very pleased with myself right now.  :D

Shenske is indeed talented. :)

And, no, they are not lost. *points to links on the left side of the page* *points to search bar at the top of the page*

The covers just get shown off here, most of them (if not all) are uploaded to the site and can be found along with the retail covers. If it qualifies as "old" then it's likely on the site already.

I know i checked there for some of the covers displayed here. Like this one for instance. http://www.thecoverproject.net/forums/index.php?topic=1058.msg17728#msg17728

Links are dead and these custom covers are not in the main site's directory  :'(
