I think it's a great idea to create a Tales of Destiny and a Tales of Eternia (TOD 2 in the U.S.) PS1 DVD covers
I think i would retitle ps1 TOD2 to Tales of Eternia as to not get them mixed up; As there is a PS2 game that is a true sequel to TOD titled TOD2
I want to create new front covers for both of these games, the cover art on the original boxes is really substandard.
Although I do think the back covers on both games are fine I think if they are not stretched just copied and pasted and modified with new backgrounds they would look acceptable.
I would make both of their spines have a similar design, maybe something like the tales of the abyss spine just big lettering no graphic.

I think maybe we should use original art from the old namco websites to create like a montage of the main characters and the swordians on the cover more of a hand drawn look.
maybe from http://toddc.jp/ or http://namco-ch.net/talesofdestiny_ps2dc/index.php or http://tales.namco.com/destiny/

on Tales of eternia it should pretty much the same thing hand drawn elements except without swords

I have very little skill in creating art.  So the Tales of Destiny one I made was just a scan of the original PSone art and refitted to a DVD case.  Since they were scanned in high res, there's no quality loss unlike upscaling from those website images.  Though if you need the original inlays and original PS format scans I can provide those if they help you.

I was planning to make a Tales of Destiny 2/Tales of Eternia cover if I managed to snag it off of eBay, but alas, I was outbid in the last 6 seconds. Better luck next time.

the7k i own both Tales 1 and 2 for ps1 but neither have any good cover art in the manuals or in the inlays, the backs are fine though, I think there are scans of them here somewhere though.

Grandia though has a very good inlay that could be used for a cover art.

Does anybody know the best way to get to an inlay without ruining the case? I just got Rhapsody and would like to make a cover from the second disc's inlay, but the last thing I wanna do is ruin the case.

The case shouldn't really be THAT hard to take apart. I've disassembled and reassembled cases numerous times. You won't be ruining anything unless you're a huge klutz.

Pull on the spine area lifting away from the case; at the same time, push down the bottom of the case.

Each case is designed the same way, four notches: two on the bottom, two on the top. the best way to remove it is by pulling on the 'spine' area.

You can start with light pressure and ease more if needed.

Just a question to all the cover-holics out there; how would you like the demo covers to look when I finally get around to them? While the PlayStation Underground discs had very clear packaging, the Official PlayStation Magazine discs did not, which will be the majority of the discs anyway. I know some people prefer the most prominent demo to be the focus of the cover, but I was kinda thinking of making the cover reflect the theme of the disc. For example, the first few OPM discs had a space adventure theme to them, the second batch had a dystopian future feel to them, etc.

i haven't updated my template to have the demo disc option yet because i am waiting on LJ to finish up his revision of the "Gray PSone" style.
I'm going to add both options at once to save time.
