Slightly off-topic, slightly related, but I just saw these posted on eBay:

I've been regularly searching eBay for a good deal on the Akklaim Wireless SNES controllers, by searching "SNES wireless", and these popped up yesterday. They must be very very new, because I've not seen them before a few days ago, and I can't find any info on them via a Google search.

They appear to be identical to Retro-Bit's RetroDuo Portable Controllers, only wireless and white. I've heard that those controllers are very good, especially in satoshi_matrix's review of the system. Anyone know anything about these?

I just got one of the Retrobit controllers. The controllers themselves are pretty decent. The buttons are a little more though compared to Nintendo ones. The D-pad is actually pretty good too; I hate the ones on the Messiah controllers.

The bad part is that my controller seemed to drop out 2 or 3 times over the course of a game of NBA Jam. There were a couple times my turbo gave out while holding R. Also, I did stop moving once which caused me to actually have to pass the ball.

For reference, I was about 6 feet from the receiver.

You are right about the D-pad. Those are a bit strange on the Messiah controllers. What is true though is that the messiah controllers have much higher build quality than those newer ones from Ebay.

The reception of these is not the best I'm afraid. Not bad but not as good as one would expect.
