Printing CD/DVD labels
(1/1)
Maben:
Does anyone print labels (stickers) to put on CDs?  I have some old Avery ones and I found the template on Word...but it just comes up as a couple of squares and I don't see how you are supposed to be precise with it.  Also, how do I size a picture well to fit a CD label?

Will putting a sticker that's on the inner part of the CD (what is normally clear) affect its operation?  Obviously I'm not talking about physically covering the hole.

The search function seems to be down and I can't find anyone talking about this type of thing on the forums here.  I can't be the only one who burns a CD for whatever reason and doesn't like putting it into a nice case with just some Sharpie writing.

when i print covers i do it with a template in illustrator or photoshop, you just put the picture in the template then print and cut.

there are some stickers that come with the shape of a cd/dvd in that case you just have to print.

Placing a DVD label on my custom DVD's tend to break my DVD drive faster with the extra weight of the DVD.  Seems stupid, but as soon as I tore the label off of one, the DVD played perfectly.  To each their own, but I will personally NEVER use them again

Don't use stickers, it's a bad idea and it ruins the CD over time. Best thing to do if you want a custom label on a CD or DVD is to buy inkjet printable CD's/DVD's and a printer that's able to print on them. They look really nice and give a more professional look.
wiggy:
Go to Avery's website. You can find proper templates for all their labels, not just squares that loosely convey the space in which you must squeeze your graphics.
