First cover I've ever made (from a template).  I scrounged up a lot of old games and wanted to put them all together on a physical disc.  This is basically just nostalgia candy for me, but I still wanted to show it off :D.  And yes, I know not all of the games are Apogee.  They are so small compared to the size of even a regular CD, I'm probably gonna throw a lot of games onto it.

What do you guys think?  I think maybe it needs to be spiced up a little more.

It's not to bad at all it's simple and to the point.

It's missing Blake Stone: Aliens of Gold thou, which is actually an overlooked DOS first person shooter by Apogee  ;)

Developed by ID, most were published by Apogee.  Like I said, not everything is Apogee...similar to how not all of the games from Sonic's Ultimate Genesis Collection are Sonic or Genesis games.  Apogee just was involved in the majority of the games I included.

Also I should mention that I have more games on the disc than on the case, I just put the most prominent ones on there (and the ones that I personally played more of as a kid).

I have both Blake Gold games on the cover & disc, I've had trouble running them on my PC though.  I'm not experienced with DOSBox, but for some reason the rest of the games run fine and the Blake Gold games have serious framerate issues.  I'm going to need to see if messing with the settings helps.

I'd be remiss if I didn't say the lack of Rise of the Triad saddens me.  Not that I planned to print this out anyway, but ROTT Rocks. :D

Hadn't heard of it before.  It looks cool though, it's going on the disc/cover.

Usually by raising the CPU cycles abit in DOS BOX it fixes most of the problems with BlakeStone and makes it run smooth.

Oh yeah, give it a shot.

It's been years since I've played it - and perhaps I'm remembering it through rose colored glasses - but I recall it being a lot of fun.  Seems the graphics were a little rough, even for the time (though I may have played it later than it came out), but it was a fun game. :D

Like I said, I'm a noob to DOSBox.  Can you give me some easy instructions on how to do this please?

Edit: Also if anyone is interested, I'll put up the disc image once I've finished the list of games :D

While running the game in DOSBox, hold CTRL and press F12, you will notice the "cycles" counter increase. Between 10000 and 20000 is what is best for BlakeStone, any higher and the game starts lagging. If you need to tweek other settings such as graphics or audio emulation, here's the DOSBox wiki page that explains it all.

http://www.dosbox.com/wiki/Performance

Also to play in fullscreen instead of Window Mode hold ALT then hit Enter.

Oh man, this brings me back to the good old days. I remember getting some kind of DOS shareware CD-Rom and installing a lot of these. I had a lot of fun with Commander Keen, Cosmo's Cosmic Adventure, Crystal Caves and especially Wacky Wheels. I might have a to make covers for a few of these for the CD Poly Case template.

Anyone remember some old DOS game where you play as this squirrel wearing a jacket? It played like Super Mario Bros. a bit, and I remember you had to kill these giant toads at the end of levels. I think it had a few spinoffs too...
