New Project, looking for input & gauging interest

It's all good.  Still working away.  I've got tool pricing and prices per part, just need to get some more stuff sorted and figured out.  I don't want to go ahead with a kickstarter until I have a little more to show than just this.  Unfortunately, the fellow that was going to partner up with me to take on marketing and web-related everything was just offered a COO position at a rather profitable local startup, so I lost him to that   I NEED someone like that on board relatively soon, so I'm hunting again for someone who will work as a partner with me (i.e. no money right now with the intent of sharing success instead of a flat rate or salary once there's money to be had).

That said, I've got a name/logo and will be filing for a trademark before too long .  I have at least 6 other products and services so far besides the SNES mini shell that I plan on offering right out of the gate.  The tooling for the shell isn't gonna be cheap, and I basically have to guess how many I'm gonna sell over the lifetime of the product in order to come up with pricing, and since there's no competing product, I can't compare it to current market sales.  There are none LOL!  In order to make this product a success, in terms of sales and desirability, I need to sell it for a really good price.  With that in mind, I probably won't make much, if any, money selling just the SNES shells.  If I can break even on the shells and make money on the other stuff, then hopefully I can move ahead with the next project, which will be the consolized MVS Neo Geo.  From there, on to the Genesis, Neptune, SNEStation, etc.

Right now I only have the idea, about a dozen texts, a few emails, and a phone call or two.  But, those texts/emails/calls are enough to get some product to my doorstep. Soon enough...

I'm working on things still.  I'm trying to get all the ducks in a row before I get that kickstarter up.  It can be really tough trying to sort out exactly how much it's gonna cost to get something started like this :/

I have a 2-slot mvs machine and a single slot as well and i want something to play my mvs game in my tv.

This is the first time I'm seeing this thread, and, suffice it to say, I am very interested.

If I may, I think, since this is a budding brand, that all the shells should match up, in some way, aesthetically, beyond a barnd stamping.  Or, at the very least, there should be mutliple "lines": black, chrome, whatever.  I can't tell you how awesome it would be to have all matching systems.

The MVS is gonna be a fun and challenging project.  I'm still planning on picking up a 1-slot soon so that I can start working on a design.  Just takes $$$, and that's always in short supply lately it seems.  I guess I should stop buying so many Gameboy micros...

That's exactly the plan, at least across each brand (i.e. Nintendo consoles will share an aesthetic, Sega consoles the same, etc.)

As far as different versions/lines, that's also part of the plan.  It will largely depend on how many I will have to order to do so, but I can easily do limited editions with paint and whatnot.  I have a makeshift paint booth in my garage since I used to be heavily into car modding.  Would be a cinch to knock out a stack of crazy colors and/or finishes

Thanks for the offer!  I don't know what skill set(s) you have, but I do have plans that involve custom cases/covers.  And I'm talking special limited edition-type stuff, not just a unique cover or anything like that.  We're talking proud to show off to even your totally non-gamer friends and family

They might be, but based on what I've read, the single slot is the preferred unit for consolized MVS.

2-slots have the controller ports on-board, so you dont have to add any.
they have a socketed BIOS, so if you want to add the UniBIOS its super easy.
in fact the only things you have to worry about are the power, AV connections, test and coin buttons, everything else is on-board.
