Ok, I have been toying around with my Wii a bit and I discovered how to get games to run off the SD card instead of the internal memory, and since SD cards are literally next to nothing, like $5 for a 2GB card. Has anyone thought to get these cheap cards, put them in DS cases, put individual N64, SNES, and Wii-ware titles as well as other rather large programs on the cards, and make covers for them?

I know, but isn't DVD a little over kill? Not saying it doesn't work, which it does, just pop them in the clips that usually holds documentation.

Arrrrrrrrgh, you guys have to stop talking about this!  At first I thought it was pure crazy shit, but the more I read about folks casing intangibles, the more I want to do so myself!  >:(

Back when the DVD WiiWare thread was active, I made the same suggestion of using DS cases instead. I think it was shot down only for uniformity's sake. Keeping the Wii and WiiWare titles with the same cases, or at least same case height, made things look uniform and consistent.

But if you want to work on WiiWare covers for DS cases, I'm all for it.

Gotta change the logo..  Super Mario 64 is not on Wii Ware, it is on Virtual Console.  Cool template though.

I consider all downloadable content on the wii under the umbrella of Wii Ware. Because its softWARE you download from the Wii Shop Channel...all from the same place...just different types of ware.

Yeah, I'd stick with the Wiiware thing too.  "Wii Virtual Console" doesn't have a very nice ring to it, not to mention lack of an actual logo and the amount of real estate that it would take up on the cover :-\

I need a proper name for the Wii Ware Games, the non-VC ones. I am just calling it the Ware Arcade for the time being.

If anyone is interested, I'll organize the template.

Can you download a Wii-ware title, put it on an SD card, and launch it from a different Wii (that hasn't downloaded it before)?  What ties it to your Wii?

No, it can only be run from the Wii it was downloaded from, otherwise games would only be purchased once and copied left and right. The purchase is directly tied to the console (as opposed to Microsoft or Sony, where digital downloads are attached to an account), which is a real disadvantage, but until Nintendo makes an account system that means something (like making your Club Nintendo account the equivalent to an Xbox Live or PSN account), that just how things are gonna be. It's one of the areas Nintendo needed to improve, imho.

Hence why I don't use the Virtual Console.  That system is b.u.s.t.e.d.

This is what I was pretty sure of.  Another reason I only have 2 virtual console games.  That said, I don't really like digital games at all (I don't think I've bought any from XBLA or PSN), but I would feel more comfortable knowing that I can move my account from system to system.  And if my system dies, my games aren't lost.

That said, what is the real draw here?  You are trying to make a virtual game into a physical copy but you still don't have the benefits of a tangible disc/cartridge.
