This is what I was pretty sure of.  Another reason I only have 2 virtual console games.  That said, I don't really like digital games at all (I don't think I've bought any from XBLA or PSN), but I would feel more comfortable knowing that I can move my account from system to system.  And if my system dies, my games aren't lost.

Or if you system gets stolen, like my launch day Wii was.  >:(

That said, what is the real draw here?  You are trying to make a virtual game into a physical copy but you still don't have the benefits of a tangible disc/cartridge.

It's for a couple of reasons. One is to give yourself something tangible. Also, by using the SD card, you save a ton of space, since the Wii has hardly any. And when all is said and done, cases like help show just how large your collection really is. Despite my hate at Nintendo's lack of account system akin to XBL or PSN, I still have a few Virtual Console and WiiWare titles. Having cases for them on my shelf, even if they were empty, helps to show just how large my collection really is, and reminds me that I have these games, which can be easily forgotten on days when you're bored and want to play something.

I actually have about a dozen VC games that I purchased really early on. Ironically, I have almost all of them in a physical format.  I owned almost every title released in the 1st six months, but still thought it was kinda neat to have them in a vapor format legally.  Then I realized that I've purchased Zelda 1 and 3 in every other form that they've been released in.  Why on Earth do I have to buy this title over and over?  I feel like I should get a free digital version just for having purchased all the other incarnations.  Game companies need to do that whole free digital copy thing.  I wanna rip carts to my Wii.  How sweet would that be?!

I sucks because some titles are ONLY releases digitally.  Bastion, Limbo, and Journey just to name a few.  I really like those games, and I don't want to miss out just because of my aversion to DLC >:(

Dude, that blows about your Wii.  Did you try contacting Nintendo?  They have awesome customer service.  They may be able to help you out.

You just made my day good sir :D.  I loved LIMBO when I saw my friend playing it...but I have a serious aversion to buying digital-only games.  Woot!

As low as $12.99 on Ebay.  Are there any other releases like this of virtual games across the 3 platforms?

Dude, that blows about your Wii.  Did you try contacting Nintendo?  They have awesome customer service.  They may be able to help you out.

It was long ago, before Brawl came out. I only had two VC games for it (A Link to the Past and Super Metroid), and I was more upset that it was stolen than that I lost those two games. But I've heard horror stories about Nintendo and transferring digital content from one Wii system to another. People who upgraded to the Black Wii (which isn't really an upgrade. It's just a different color) having to pretty much beg Nintendo to transfer all their data from their old console to the new one, and having to ship it out to them to do it, taking a month or more.

Maybe if it was more recent, I would try, but after all this time, I doubt they'll do anything. The only thing I've got going for me is that the system was registered under my Club Nintendo account, so I can prove I did purchase them, but still.

Enough of my rambling.

Limbo and 'Splosion Man are both awesome games, and that alone justifies purchasing that triple pack. I've not played Trials HD though. I may one day pick that up, if only to have Limbo and a physical copy of 'Splosion Man (I was gonna buy Limbo, but once you've beaten it once, the haunting element diminishes greatly, unfortunately, and that, along with the pricetag, dissuaded me from ultimately buying it.)

Yeah, Limbo feels a lot like a Flash game that you'd find online by accident, become totally obsessed with for about 2 hours, then never play again.  I got it on sale at one point, so I never felt bad about investing $XXX into it.  I think I paid 5 bucks.  At that price, it pays for itself if it entertains me for a half hour, which it most definitely did :)

Yea, I decided to do this because of the small storage capacity of the Wii. You get a couple N64 games and its maxed out. Nintendo was not planning ahead on this one. At least now VC and WiiWare can be run from the SD card alleviating to an extent the problems of such small storage.

Also, Nintendo is comprised of a really, REALLY stubborn group of older Japanese men.  The Japanese are already a stubborn people, and these guys just insist on perpetuating that to the nth degree.

Nintendo loves to introduce new ideas and new tech, but they don't care to follow what they think of as "trends".  You know, trends like disc-based media, online gameplay, high-definition output, mass storage, etc  ::)

Hopefully the WillUtouchmyWii alleviates some of the stubbornness.

While I agree with almost everything you just said, they didn't abandon disc-based media because it was trendy. They tried it out, and felt the technology wasn't ready. If they hadn't attempted the new disc-based tech, Playstation wouldn't exist. Online gameplay was supported via broadband on the GCN (and older consoles had some sort of internet connectivity) , but it wasn't very widely supported (just like the GCN itself).

They are stubborn though. Otherwise, the Wii would have an achievement system as well, along with a centralized account that shares points and stores purchases in case you need to buy new equipment or wish to upgrade. That could also one day allow the ability to use Virtual Console games from one system on another, like PS1 Classics. </rant>

I agree a DVD case is really overkill, id be happy with just DS cases with an sd card inside to store Wiiware/Vc games, in fact tell me how awesome this looks

My only issue is....how do we get an sdcard to fit snuggly into a DS case, my only possible suggestion is cutting up one of these and fitting inside the ds slot holder http://images.highspeedbackbone.net/skuimages/large/GEN-8007-main-sp.jpg

SD cards slip right into the DS card slot. It's loose, but as long as your case stays closed and you don't try to shake the thing like a rattle, it should be fine. There really isn't a need to mod the DS case, unless you absolutely must have a snug fit. Then you suggestion works, I suppose. It just feels like unnecessary work to me.

The Cave Story cover looks really nice, and the added sticker for the card itself is also a nice touch.
