Some levels have new music tracks, and they fixed the Spike cutscene glitch. It's the definitive version actually. However, the greatest hits version of Enter The Dragonfly does NOT have any fixes or changes. --- End quote --- On a scale of 0% to 100%, how sure are you on BOTH of those statements that you have just made? --- End quote --- Doing a google search results in a few references to the non-Greatest Hits version of Year of the Dragon having bugs, but being fixed. Here is supposedly a quote from Brian Hastings, the lead Insomniac programmer on the game: "Oh, by the way, the Greatest Hits version of the game has fixes for the raceway bug and the Fireworks Factory gem bug (for both U.S. and Europe.) It also plays the 'Spike is Born' movie at the proper time, and it has a little extra polish and special effects work that didn't make it into the final release." Doing a similar search on Enter the Dragonfly yields no such information. I think he is right :D Edit: Now that I know the Greatest Hits version of Year of the Dragon is the one to get, does anyone know if the Spyro Collector's Edition (the 3-pack) comes with the bug-fixed polished version? |

Anyways, I actually forgot about that speedway bug, even though I experienced it in my first playthrough. What it does is that you're unable to complete the game 100% since the game doesn't reward you an egg for some reason, but I've never heard of the Fireworks Factory glitch myself. Trust me, I've played all the PS1 Spyros at least 3 times each(In fact I just finished my 4th playthrough of 1 & 2 yesterday, and am starting my 4th of Year of the Dragon today). Basically, try and get the greatest hits version of all the Spyro games, because even the original Spyro had some positive changes to it... though they're VERY minor compared to Year of the Dragon's overhaul. |

I'm usually against greatest hits versions but if they are improvements then it sounds like the smart move. It might be cool to have the collection as a single cover though. I must ponder this further... I might commission you, FYI. |

While 2 & 3 are kinda similar in gameplay, Spyro 1 is like its own thing honestly. For one, there are certain actions that can only be done in Spyro 1, such as rolling and being able to drop down mid flight(This was replaced with a hover in 2 & 3). Even 2 & 3 have their differences though; Like in 2, enemies do not drop gems anymore, instead only dropping spirit particles which help Spyro progress through the levels. In 3, it's kind of a mix of 1 & 2, as enemies drop gems again, but everything else is more akin to 2. You really have to play the games to know what I'm talking about though, or if you haven't played them in a few years, replay the games like I tend to do every couple years. Yes, I would go only really go for Greatest Hits for Spyro 3. Feel free to PM me anytime if you have further questions. |
