Ok, I broke down and bought a wii...mainly because my two gamecubes bit the dust recently and the wii can do Component video on GCN games with a cable that isn't so expensive. Ok, I didn't break down and seek it out, one came across my path for a...decent price ($20) and I bought it. No controllers, but they thought it was totally dead. I plugged it in, it powered on and the disc drive worked. SCORE!

I know of some good games on the wii that I have personally played, and I dont want to delve into double dipping unless there is something that sets the wii version apart from say the gamecube version (I am looking at you..>Resident evil archives)

So far, I have Wii Sports Resort, Super Mario Galaxy 1, and Resident Evil Umbrella Chronicles.

and I know about good games like Muramasa, Fortune Street, Tatsunoko Vs Capcom, Mario Kart, Kirby's Epic Yarn, Brawl, House of the Dead Overkill, the metroid primes, the zeldas, and Epic Micky.

Does anyone have some good games worth checking out on the little white box?

Xenoblade Chronicles

(Haven't picked up a copy yet, it's next on my list but will probably have to wait until the end of May due to a couple of gift-giving occasions coming up and multiple family members knowing it's something I want but don't have)

  • ...and that's the bottom line
Endless Ocean, Mad World and A Boy And His Blob.

Also definitely check out Deadly Creatures. Don't be fooled by the mixed reviews, give it at least a rent. I thought it was an awesome game and you'd be surprised about the game's story and that it's actually not about the animals. They just got cought up in someone else's business.

Silent Hill: Shattered Memories and Cursed Mountain are also good games. Cursed Mountain is kinda love it or hate it though.

I especially like the point and click Adventures though they got very mixed reviews partially.

Secret Files Tunguska 1 + 2
Sam & Max Season 1 + 2

Last Story and Pandoras Tower are also pretty nice RPGs. Those are only out in the EU at the moment.

A game pretty much ignored but absolutely loved by me was
Final Fantasy Fables: Chocobo's Dungeon! Very nicely made Dungeon Crawler!

Please also try Little King's Story! A great great real-time strategy game!

Wow, and I thought the Wii's 3rd party library was cluttered with party games and the real meat of the Wii was the VC.

I has been proven wrong.

definitely check out Mushroom Men. A totally under rated gem that not many people know about.

some other good games I would recommend are:
-Excite Truck and Excite Bots
-No More Heroes 1 & 2
-Sin & Punishment: Star Successor
-Wario Land: Shake It!
-Resident Evil 4 Wii Edition
-Dragon Quest Swords

I second the NMH game recommend! Suda 51 is one crazy dude. The second one is much better than the first, so even if you don't like the first game, still give the second one a try.

Also, Klonoa on the Wii is a very fun platformer that is overlooked by most. It's very fun.

Everyone's covered a lot of the big ones. I'd also recommend Super Paper Mario and maybe Sonic Colors. Also Sonic & the Secret Rings, while not perfect, is memorable, so if you find it cheap you might pick it up.

If you like party games the Mario & Sonic games are decent - my personal favorite and recommendation is Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Winter Games. I've also had fun with Wii Party and Wii Play: Motion (comes with Wii Motion Plus controller). And Sonic & Sega All-Stars Racing is actually a pretty decent kart racer up there with Mario Kart. It's also on 360 and PS3, but the Wii version controls like Mario Kart Wii and has an exclusive Mii racer.

I can't speak for the Wii version but thats an excellent kart racing game on the 360. I actually prefer it over mario kart.
