Hi all! I guess this is a belated introduction, but I think I'm about to become more active here. Been making covers for my own use for about a year or so, but some of them are finally good enough to maybe be worth sharing.

Speaking of which, is there a generally accepted etiquette here for using existing covers as a base? Post but don't upload? Upload, but give credit? I don't like to reinvent the wheel when I'm just swapping out some art or adapting to a different size/style of case, but I also don't want to step on any toes.

Welcome to the forums flamepanther. I would definitely say your cover making skills are good enough to share your work! You're Turrican cover was excellent. Did you ever submit it to the main site? I don't know if you saw the slightly modified version I uploaded to your request thread with the updated text on the back.

Feel free to upload your modifications to other users covers to your mediafire account and share them here in the forums. Just credit the original creator that you've based your work off of and no one will mind. I don't think the main site accepts covers that aren't wholly original though.

Yet another new member.  Don't delete me, please!!!  (I keep being removed before I even post anything)

Name's Bob Barker, AKA Maximumbob54 but has nothing to do with the old tv show.  Console gamer 100%.  Just can't get back into PC gaming but don't begrudge those that do.  Have a meager collection of many of the consoles starting at third gen consoles up to most of the current.  Actually started gaming in the second gen but just not into anything older than third gen now.  Wish I still had all my original stuff but as the stories go it just wasn't meant to be.  Most of my collection is made of twenty to thirty games per system so it's not a collection like some I've seen but it's more than I've ever had before and it makes for a great start of a gaming wall!!!

Admit I've already downloaded and printed several replacement covers as I'm sure that's how many start here.  But I also look forward to contributing to the cause.  Been spending some time here and there looking up the scanning process and I must admit there's more to it than I thought.  Wasn't even sure what DPI was at first...  Now I'm looking forward to what scanner I may be purchasing soon.  I don't do Photoshop (or even have the program) but I can at least provide some clean scans of originals that aren't already on the list.  And then I won't feel guilty asking for some scans from anyone else that aren't here!!!

Sorry - I just deleted a post from a new member by accident while removing 2 subsequent spam posts.   >:( I don't recall the username.  If you'd like to repost your message that would be great.

Welcome to the site anyway!  ;D

Here's his message, please delete if/when he gets a chance to re-post it.

Username is 'Loftin'.

"I'm 32, happily married, and a father of one. I teach for a living and live in Texas. As a kid, I started with an Atari 2600 and NES. Over the course of my childhood, I also owned a Genesis, SNES, N64, Dreamcast, and PS2 as well. I got back into collecting retro games 2 years ago, and while I collect just about everything I definitely focus on NES, SNES, and Genesis. That's what brought me to this site: getting covers for UGC's. I've amassed a pretty decent sized collection (200+ NES, 200+ SNES, 100+ Genesis) and strongly prefer using the game cases. To me it's a throwback to going to the video store and studying the boxes to decide what to rent.

I don't have photoshop, but I have had The Gimp for years. I seriously doubt that I could create the kind of covers that other people would want to use, but I have created some VERY crude covers for Super Famicom and Gameboy games that I couldn't find here. Anyway, I've printed literally hundreds of covers from here already and look forward to seeing some of the stuff y'all come up with moving forward."

Welcome to the site, Loftin! Always good to see new members.

Hello everyone.

My name is Alexandre, but you can call me Alex or Higashi. I enjoy doing custom artwork for game covers since 2007, and I currently post my work related to box art on vgboxart.com

Link to the stuff I've done so far:
http://vgboxart.com/designer/Higashi89/

I wanted to make a new thread showing my stuff instead of posting it here in the introduction thread but it seems there's no sub forum where I can do this, so I'll leave it here.

Also I wanted to know if The Cover Project has a section for custom artwork or box arts.

Thanks and have you all a good day.

Custom box art is nearly non-existent here; it's very niche, but there are some people here that would totally make good use of it. One of the older members used to recreate Super Famicom box designs IIRC. If you're looking for somewhere to put those I think the UGC section would make a decent fit.

We don't really have a specific section for custom cover art, so feel free to post stuff you'd like to share in their respective areas (sorted by type of case). Lots of people actually use custom covers or prefer them over retail in some cases, so stuff like that is totally welcome here.

As are you. Welcome.

Hi forum!!

My nickname is pipeboy ("pipe" as short name for Felipe). My first memory is opening and playing my father's Atari on Christmas's night, but my first console was a SNES in 1995, and got a few games the next years. But around 2010 I restarted to play more often and to collect some games. Now it's 2018, I have almost 50 SNES games, around 70 games for Nintendo's handheld systems and starting the Switch era with 5 physical games. I think this is a lot, but you guys are making my reconsidere it XD

Recently my brother came to live with me, and the idiot turn the kitchen on fire at midnight, TWICE in 3 months >_< Afther cleaning and airing the house, I got my vacations on january-february, and ended cleaning game's contacts for a whole week to have my games working again (god bless the salty air of this coast city >_<). My brother haven't turn the house on fire again, but his destructive powers are unmatch since he born, so I looked for some storing solutions to presever my games better than the "old fashion" shoes's box (they don't work good when we ended leaving every windows in the house open long and often). I saw several "options" of plastic boxes "with covers" in internet, and got suspisious of the similarity between so many people . . . so a common source may exist. . . looked for it . . . and here I'm.

Found this place in summer (in this hemisphere january-february), and I've been happily occupied getting cases, printers, cutters, papers, reading this place and doing things on my own to honor your hard work for this hobby. Today, I'm almost done with my SNES collection, so I came to thanks you all for your kindness and files. THIS PLACE IS AMAZING!!! Soon I'll be uploading pictures and asking help for a last cover I'm missing. But now:

"Hello! My nick is pipeboy. Thanks for this place and keeping me bussy the last 5 months."

Hope one day be able to contribute to this place, for now that only was an info post about you on a spanish pokemon forum (but that place was sentenced to dead a few days ago. . . .). Maybe one day I can upload some raw scans . . . who know if anyone want any of my games XD

That is for today. Nice to meet you and have a great summer/winter.

P.D.: My english still needs work. If you can help me, thanks.

Thanks for welcoming me Arseen.

The game in question is:

[SNES] Tommy Moe's Winter Extreme: skiing and snowboarding - UGC US vertical, if possible.

If this should be asked in the Request Forum, let me know to open a thread.

Also, there is someone asking for a 3DS game I can scan. Is there a guide where I . . . . never mind, already found one . . . that should keep me busy tomorrow XD

Again, thanks for the help and have a great week.

I'm bit surprised I had this stored.

Again, thanks for the help and have a great week.
Thank you.
Friday is Juhannus eve so the week will be fun.
Hoping the weather is decent as on Juhannus we are outside drinking by bonfires.

Thanks you. I guess the Taito logo could be the motive. . . I picked the Electro Brain Logo from the "Jim Power: The Lost Dimension in 3D" cover and "copy&paste" over the one you posted. Here is with correct seller for your record.

I'm in Chile, here the friday will be "Noche de San Juan", is the longest night of the year and we learned a lot of rituals for that night: foreshdow the next year economy with potatos under your pillow, hit trees for getting more fruit in summer, searching for flowers that didn't exist to adchieve happiness and money, hang from the door frame to grow larger, etc. It's a very funny night here too XD Hope you get a great time.

We too have some old Juhannus traditions (not done often anymore, especially number 3).
1: Picking up 7-11 different flowers and putting them under your pillow to see your future partner in your dreams.
2: Looking into a well too see your future partner's reflection in the water.
3: Young women running naked in fields for fertility.
4: Counting Cuckoo birds's cuckoos to see how many years one still lives.

Traditions still going strong are:
5: Sauna at lakeside while beating yourself with vasta/vihta (punch of birch branches with leafs). I know this sounds masokistic but it's actually very pleasant.
6: HEAVY drinking.
7: Watching bonfires.
8: Barbequing.
