welcome aboard!

re: "mid-life crisis"

most of us "old fogies" are going through the same thing!

any covers your thinking of working on?
I'm planning to satisfy both my own needs plus the needs of the many to start with.  For example, I'm in need of an NTSC UGC cover for the Genesis Monopoly game.  There is a decent raw for it that's been uploaded, but it needs a bit of cleaning up to meet the high standards.  Most of it will be pretty simple for me (and it helps that it's both such high-quality and a simple design), but cleaning up the screenshots will be a little rougher.  So I plan to start there.

After that I'll work on some Genesis stuff (like a good, quality retail version of Sonic & Knuckles and Dr. Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine, for example) since it's a system quite dear to my heart.  Later I'll expand into making Vertical N64 and SNES UGCs, filling a few gaps in regards to what is missing.  After that (and once I get started on storing my loose GB/GBC/GBA carts in DS cases) I'll move onto GBA covers, but that's for future me to worry about.

Oh, and in regards to the message in your signature...I'll get to that, I promise.  :D

Vertical SNES?

Good, I'll hold you on that. 8)

Here  is the list of covers done in US Vertical format:
http://www.thecoverproject.net/forums/index.php?topic=10382.0
It also lists which are missing.

Hi everybody!

Figured it was time to stop lurking and finally register and contribute ;D Been lurking since 2009 on and off (could have sworn i registered before...)

Anywhoo, I spent pretty much the first decade post high school working for a certain large video game retailer here in the states. Most of my paychecks went back into that company and i have a very substatial newer gen collection :) Slowly I got back into the retro after quite a while away. Made a foolish mistake to trade in all of my snes/nes games for a couple of PSX games back when the PSX first launched. Needless to say quite a few of the games i got rid of then have cost me 10x what i was given for all of them games back then, to get them back :-\

I also have a unnatural obsession with GBC's and GBPockets. Everytime i see one at the flea market or thrift store, it has to come home with me. Must have 30 or so total. Dont know why, and my wife gives me flak for it everytime. :D

16 GBCs I would understand because of Faceball 2000, but 30 is pointless. :P

I haven't properly introduced myself yet and I don't want to look like an intruder so,
My name is Pascal I'm 19 years old and I'm from Europe.

I've gotten into gaming when my mom took me to the E3 of 2002 where she worked to promote Counter-Strike for Microsoft at the Microsoft boot.
Before that I always watched my dad play on his Sony consoles waiting carefully waiting for him to be done with the game, allowing me to try it out.
Now I was standing in front of these demo stands playing the games myself, holding the controller in my own hands pushing forwards many sorts of heroes towards multiple enemies.
This is when the game hording became my biggest hobby.

Instead of asking candy and Pokemon toys for my birthday now I asked for Crash Bandicoot, Resident Evil or anything Sony made.
Every pressent I got was almost always videogame related.

I grew out of my Sony fanboy-ism when a friend of mine introduced me to the Nintendo 64 with Super Smash Bros.
He kicked my ass a million times as kirby with it's corresponding theme but I was loving every second.
After that not only Sony titles would decorate my room but also famous titles such as Banjo Kazooie or Mario kart.
Nintendo and Sony games had to be absolutely mint condition, fully boxed and no classics or platinums.

From that point I already owned a Ps1, Ps2, a Nintendo 64 and an old NES my uncle gifted me.
Doesn't sound like much nowadays but back then it felt like I had the most precious riches of the world.

After years of buying-selling-buying-selling my games, being way too picky on the conditions and never having enough money to support this. I realised I had to find some other way to make my games look nice and keeping them in a good condition without spending hundreds of dollars on just a few games.
But I still wanted to do this with the same devotion as before.

Not only my mom but also my girlfriend were getting quite worried of the amount of money I can spend on my favourite and only hobby.
That's when I decided to mostly let go of collecting manuals and mint condition boxes and cases and just downloading all the amazing covers you guys have been making and using them for my own.

I will try to make my very first cases this week once the UGC's and DS cases arrive and perhaps upload a few pictures if I'm not too shy about the results.

Yep definitely close to Amsterdam, sadly not in Amsterdam itself.
The prices for a house there aren't something I can afford and renting a room from someone who doesn't have the right papers to do it is illegal.

Hey everyone. My name is Dan, I'm from Rhode Island, USA, and I've been collecting games for the past 10 years at least. I've been a member here for a few years and made some covers a while back, but I've never been in the forums much. I'm just recently finding some time and money to case up my collection and make it look nice, so I've been on the site again lately and figured I'd say hi to everyone!

Hello everyone,  my name is Marc and have been reading this forum for a while.  I have been playing and collecting video games since i bought my first snes in 92.  I had around 400 nes games by the year 2000 but, as many, sold the whole lot. Early this year I started actively collecting every system but nes.  I can not justify spending about ten time what I bought them for before.  I love the covers that everyone makes and enjoy looking at them on a shelf instead of in a box in the closet.  Thanks

Johnathan, Portland, Oregon. Single Dad who enjoys playing old school games with my daughter which reignited my passion for them and to begin collecting once more. I have been an avid console and PC gamer since about 1989 and look forward to reliving my past while raising my daughter to appreciate things aside Call of Duty and Facebook like most kids these days.
