This is my diagram for the GC MM Anni collection button swap project. This makes the hard mod reversible with switches.
I have the ps2 collection, but can't get used to the controller feel.
the reflex memory is just too burned in for me  to change button layout or even controllers.
I happen to own 1-8 x,x2,x3 on their respective media, but being able to save in one location is so nice.

For the 25th i would love to see Megaman 11 in 16 bit, but thats dreaming.  I would settle for a poster or something

Nah, Mega Man X works better for 16 bit. Unless by 16 bit you mean the way Mega Man looked in Mega Man and Bass. MM&B looks nicer than MM7, in my opinion.

And never settle! Settling is giving up, and we should never give up on Mega Man. He never gave up on us!

yep, no go. I may try reseating the 72 pin.... but it is on firmly as two screws go through it and theyd have to line up to go through... so its pretty much a given that reseating wont work.

I wish Capcom would just give the franchise to Inafune, but I imagine Capcom sees far too many future monetary opportunities in the franchise to do that.

I've just never heard of anyone having those sorts of compatibility problems with a new 72 pin. Like I said, there's not a lot that can go wrong, so if it is the 72 pin, it's likely that the specific one you have had some sort of defect as opposed to there being some inherent problem with all of them. It's entirely possible too that what you have isn't a new 72 pin at all, but a screwy one that someone tried to fix using the pin-bending trick. I don't know.

Maybe it's worth throwing down the 5-8 bucks to get another one... or maybe it isn't, as you already have another working NES anyway.

Just out of curiosity, are you aware of Mega Man X Corrupted? I sure hope so...
