That's about the only thing I can think of that'd cause the connector itself to not work with certain games.

I highly doubt it because that would cause more havok than just the same two games that wont play in my generation nex.

The games are good as the work in both the top loader and the nes before the 72 pin finally crapped out. They didnt work in the generation nex but i always assumed it was the noac that was the issue. Now having purchased a brand new 72 pin and them no longer working in the nes, I am lead to believe the newer 72 pin connectors (like the one found in the generation nex) are not fully compatible with all carts.

Another funny quirk with the nex is that it has a famicom port. I have a nes to famicom converter, to allow US nes games on a Japanese system. When i plug tegen guantlet into that and into the famicom port it works. Castlevania 3 is still a bit flaky but it mostly plays as well.

Seriously, do what I said, save for the blowjob   Check the new connector to make sure it's clean and free of debris and the same of the connector on the NES board.

AO007:

Owning a broken-ass NES, go for the new pin connector. If you DO have extra money then by all means go for the official toploader.

^^^ A lot of folks like the toaster for its "superior" audio.

Personally, the quality of the A/V output on the NES is of little to no concern.  The games are ugly and the sound is crude.  I can't really imagine there being enough of a difference to enhance my gameplay experience.  If Mario jumps and Link swings his sword, then I'm a happy camper ;D

AppleQueso:

Play the Atari 2600 for a week non-stop and then go back to the NES. You'll be amazed by how nice it looks and sounds.

Anyhow... the only thing that can go wrong with a connector really is that connections aren't being made. It's either dirty or the contacts are really effed up.

Question: ShaggyB,  when you installed the new connector, did you find that it gripped the games really tightly, or that you had to leave games in the "up" position for them to work?
