Recently reading up on playing Dreamcast games in 1080p. Apparently this can be done using a VGA cord and and VGA/HDMI adapter. Has anyone done this? Does it make it look any better?

You mean the Dreamcast VGA cable?

It'll be in 640x480, that's hardly HD. It does look a lot better though. Some games have compatibility issues though, look it up.

Only way you'll get HD out of Dreamcast is to emulate.

Looks great on my 55'. But i doubt you notice the difference if you spring for that vga to hdmi.

This is the best and clearest one. (at least of the 2 that i own)

This one I own also. It gets the job done but it has these barely, but visible, box pattern. Something like a Burberry box pattern.

I obviously didn't pay what they are charging now but yea if you want it. There it is.

If your TV has a VGA port and can do 640x480 then don't use the HDMI convertor there's no reason to upscale the Dreamcast to HD resolution if your TV is more than capable of doing 640x480. Also by keeping it VGA, your keeping the signal analog which is what the Dreamcast was intended to output in the first place.

I've read that some games aren't compatible with the VGA, has anybody run into this problem? Do the games not run at all, or just run at the standard resolution?0

Most VGA box things you get for the dreamcast have passthroughs for composite and s-video. Games that don't work in VGA simply don't display video on the VGA cable.

There is usually a little trick to vga box that allows the games to play. I think you have to let it boot up under composite first and then switch over to vga.

There are some games that still don't work with that trick though. Not very many, but there are some.
