Homebrew Dreamcast Games

The beats of rage stuff seemed interesting. Didn't really care about commercially released games (I'd rather own those), I was just curious about some of the original stuff. Some of those Beats of Rage beat-em-ups look really cool, particularly X-Men and Simpsons.

Well there's also all those homebrewed games based on the Doom engine. Technically, the Doom port is just an engine port, you have to own an actual copy of the game to legally use the Doom/Doom 2/Final Doom .WADs

There's also apparently a port of Sonic Robo Blast 2 being worked on, don't know how far along that is.

Personally, I'd like to see stuff like Cave Story or Eversion ported to Dreamcast. It's the easiest system to play homebrew on after all, and I'd love to have something close to a physical copy of those games.

The beats of rage double dragon compilation is rarely out of my dreamcast!

Will all dreamcasts play homebrewed games that have been burned on a disc, or do I need to mod my system?

No modding required. They basically cracked the copy protection a long time ago, so now they can make self-booting isos that run without any problems. It's unfortunately one of the many factors that contributed to the console's demise.
