Hey Guys!  I finally got registered and looking to help the community in the future.  I was going to throw up a list of games I need and ones that I have and are trying to part with, but I'm not sure this is the best place.  Is there a site that is really popular with collectors to trade games?

I LOVE this site, it's completely revived the collector side of my gaming habit.  I've already gone and edited about 20 N64 covers for myself to be NTSC black colored (just diggin' the black a lot more).

Black is no NTSC

Black = PAL
Red = NTSC US
Violet= NTSC JAP

Anyway I too prefer Black ones so please do share.
Box.net or Mediafire are preferred ways.

Are they Vertical covers:

Or Horizontal covers:

And welcome once more to the site.

Couldn't agree with you more.  It would be great to pull a classifieds page on this site.  If we did so, we'd need a mod to take care of situations and create bad trader tags to those who do not follow the rules.  Also with that, you must have a certain number of posts before you can trade, and you can have a "rep number" for how many successful trades you make.

This is similar to the rules and guidelines for the wfigs (wrestling) forum.

I'd be all for this!

I'd be down for this as well!  Everything mentioned about sounds like the usual forum FS/FT shtick, which seems to work as well as can be expected.  I'm sure there would be some really unique items that would pop up for sale/trade on this site ;)

I understand that the Red is NTSC and Black is PAL, but that was basically just a community decision.  I downloaded VERTICAL covers and made modifications for my N64 collection since I have NTSC games and wanted black covers.  Usually these were very minor modifications of the PAL versions (simply removing the "PAL VERSION" on the spine and replacing the PAL rating with the ESRB symbol.

Others, like Star Fox 64 required more heavy modification of the NTSC version since the PAL version is Lylat Wars.  I did not change the bottoms of the backs (like the warning labels in different languages) since this is very minor issue to me.  I was doing it just for my collection, but if there is a demand I will happily upload and share.  These are the ones I did:

Super Mario 64
Mario Kart 64
GoldenEye 007
LoZ: Ocarina - kept PAL art/spine
LoZ: Majora - kept PAL art/spine
Diddy Kong Racing
Super Smash Bros. - changed front picture from PAL to NTSC
Donkey Kong 64
Star Fox 64 - my first and arguably most painful attempt.  Noob to photoshop didn't help.
Perfect Dark
Banjo-Kazooie
Banjo-Tooie
1080 Snowboarding
Turok
Conker's Bad Fur Day
Bomberman 64
Paper Mario

Keep in mind, this was my very first usage of Photoshop and I was shooting for a "very good" and definitely not a perfect.

This is all well off-topic.  Where do I report errors for covers?  I noticed that I think the two Banjo-Kazooie games and Conker didn't match the other covers.  (most PAL vertical covers have the "64" at the front and spine as red, these were still white on the front).

Those may not be considered "errors" as much as a personal choice of whoever made them.

But, I could totally be wrong.

Wiggy: Perhaps, but it just seemed incorrect especially since the spines still had the red coloring.

Back on topic: I wasn't trying to start a whole new thing on the site.  I mean if people really wanted to it'd be cool but it would also be a big undertaking.  There are lots of sites out there I found on Google, but wasn't sure if there was like a go-to site (like Ebay for auctions or Amazon for like everything).

I could certainly sell my collection and then buy what I need but there will be an inherent loss in fees and such.

So you wanted Black cover that said that said Starfox 64?
Simple swap of US front to PAL cover. ;)

I'll let you do it.

Those 3 can be considered mistakes.
Fix is simple copy from another black cover.

We desided that we don't make official market place here, but members are free to sell legal stuff here (no pirates or repros).
But they do it on their own risk.

If we notice that someone is conning others we of course take some action, but what we can do is limited.

Thanks Arseen :D.

Like I said, I think a lot of the problems I had with Star Fox stemmed from my first time ever using photoshop.  The real problem was the spine.  I didn't want to risk using a new graphic and having it be mis-aligned or sized wrong/bad quality.  So I attempted to use the "replace color" option to change the green background to black.  This has an inherent problem since the Star Fox logo is also green.  Magic wands were used...chaos ensued, lots of copy/pasting to replace stuff.

I spent some time at the pixel level coloring in black.  I chose it as a learning experience and I wanted all my covers to match, so I decided to do the most difficult of my collection first.

I'll upload when I get home (I'll use a different thread).  You can see for yourself then.

That's pretty darned unique.  Nothing that I'm looking for, but cool nonetheless.

Yo Wiggy, should you and I begin a classifieds thread as co-mods since we're so interested in it? I've got a bunch of random stuff and I'll be probably picking up a couple hundred NES games with duplicates from this old guy I know... there's a lot of people here that are closely bonded, or know each other well.   ::)

This is not a bad idea, I am personally on the look out for 3DO and Sega CD games as those are my newest consoles, and I am always double dipping and replacing my DVDs with BDs, so...I can put those up if people are interested.
