I have a really bold plan to accomplish before I die.  Well 1 of many actually. (Walking accross the US and walking all the way around Australia are 2 lol)

Anyhow I'm trying to have a complete game collection of each console and PC, Arcade machines.  I know thats alot of games obviously. It would also be millions of dollars possibly.

My biggest problem is finding a reliable check off list for each system, Printable version.  I'm only looking for North American Releases.

I don't need the games to be complete in box(would be nice). But I do need them to be in A UGC, DVD, VHS, DS case, UMD etc.  and have there original manuals.

I think it is important for someone to have this goal because video games are the greatest form of art in my opinion and as the world moves on to bigger and better games  the original releases and the original format that these game where played may be lost forever.

Why not just get the games you are interested in? Would you really play every...single...game...on any console?

True I wouldn't play all of these games or even a fraction of them honestly.  I'm sure someone would though.  This would also bring a good opportunity to game reviews like CGR does.   I always want to keep these games in clean working order.

Think about it this way, videogames have been around for less than a century and I think there are games, mostly older ones that are dissapearing.
I want to have this collection not just for myself but for future generations as well.   I want someone 100yrs+ from now to be able to put in a copy of 007 on an original N64 and see what we used to do haha.    Or go up to a pong arcade and play it,  even though by then they'll probably have something that makes what we have look like a spear compared to a tank.

CGR does what he has available, Mark doesn't have every video game, or every video game console, a lot of it is donations (Muhammad for Quatar). Focus on what you have at the moment, and find something interesting about it, or make it seem interesting.

I know he doesn't have every game but I think that if someone did, they could make a complete uniform review of all of them.  Obviously one person couldn't do all of this.  Mark does an excellent job.   I'm just saying I think that at least a few people should set this as a goal to preserve games/systems/consoles.

True space will be a problem I paln on making rows of bookshelfs to store them, like a library.  When I finally move into my new house a very large open basement will be required

This is just nonsense.  It can't and won't happen.

If you really wanna do something like this, then pick one system and go for it.  THAT's completely possible.

Well, if he cuts out arcade and PC, it might be doable. I don't think there's a warehouse on the planet that can house every arcade game ever made. PC just has way too many games period, the way releases work is entirely different for consoles so you'll NEVER find a 'complete' list of PC games.

Frankly, if I was going to go for a complete collection, I'd just skimp out on manuals, boxes, etc. You're gonna run tight on space as it is. I'd also probably start with Genesis and Nintendo 64. They'd be the easiest to complete I think (not counting consoles with <100 titles).

Then there's also the Playstation 2. Sure, the SNES's 800+ games might seem daunting, but the Ps2 has well over 2000+ releases in the US alone.

I don't see how on Earth it could be doable for one person (or 10 for that matter).  I mean, even just shooting for revery Nintendo console game would be absolutely insane and incredibly expensive.  Whoever has the money to take on such a project surely has better things to do than spend it collecting EVERY game ever made.

Yeah I guess you are right but maybe it can be done by a large group of people in the form of a video museum or something.

I'm assuming he's talking about this as some sorta lifelong goal or something like that.

I wouldn't do this personally.

Having every game would be pretty insane.

People think I'm crazy for my personal collecting goals.

I'd say focus on one system at a time.

Personally I'd like to collect:

NES

- A full US licensed set minus stadium events cart only
- Cased in UGC
- Manuals if I can find them
- Dust cover for every game

SNES

- Same goal as NES

All other systems I just want the games that interest me.  I'm thinking about going for a Sega Saturn set but won't be focusing on that for quite some time.

I think between the amount of money it would cost and the space required that better things could be accomplished.

As for Arcade I plan to build my own MAME cabinet if I can find the time and money to get it done.

Good luck though!
