Yup, sure is. They measure thickness in inches (lord knows why). It's .045-.050" Crescent cold press Illustration board (which ends up being about 1.25-1.50mm thick). this really the optimum thickness. Too much thicker, and you'll risk bending the pins in the cart port. Too thin, and you won't make very good contact with them. Do keep in mind that different cartridge ports have different spacing between the pins. I really only bother with Nintendo cart systems, so I don't know exactly what'll work best for anything else like a Genesis (which I believe employs thicker boards in the cartridges). So, you may wanna measure with a caliper before buying board to clean another system. Whatever you can get for the cheapest will do the job just fine. Either of these would be perfect. http://www.dickblick.com/products/blick-student-grade-illustration-board/ http://www.dickblick.com/products/crescent-no-99-university-grade-cold-press-illustration-board/ Almost any art supply/craft store should carry illustration board or something close to it. You really just wanna make sure that whatever you get has a matte surface. If it's glossy, like poster board, then it won't don nearly as good of a job of cleaning the connectors. Think if it like trying to sand a block of wood with 200 grit sandpaper versus 2000 grit. The 2000 grit is just too fine to be effective but the 200 will cut through it perfectly. The matte finish is your 200 grit for cleaning cartridge contacts ;) |
