My printer can print without borders so I'm trying to print covers out on 8.5x11 paper. I have the borders option set to "None", but I still can't seem to get the image to fit the paper.

I have the page settings on landscape and 100% scale as the site says and the paper size is set to the correct US Letter setting. If anyone here has a printer that can print without borders, what do I need to do to get the image the right size on 8.5x11 paper? I'm printing on a Mac through Paintbrush if that makes a difference.

It depends on what type of printer you use - some printers have a "borderless" printing option.  If your printer doesn't support borderless printing, it will add it's own printing margins.

Check your printer's compatibility.  If it does offer borderless printing, there will be an option in the printer settings to enable it for that print.

Um...

I assume you're trying to print UGC-sized images?

What software are you printing form and where are you making the adjustments to the print options?

Some printers claim that they can print borderless, when actually they don't.

So when I print a DVD cover on a regular 8.5X11 sheet paper, I can get 98.2% of the whole size on the paper.  In my opintion, if you are trying to do UGC's, it will be really really small.  Best bet is to go out and buy some legal paper, it is worth every penny!

You aren't gonna get UGC's to print on regular paper at all, so don't even try it.

I never get why people try to skimp on paper. It's arguably the most important part of the process. Even a cheap-ass printer can do a decent job with nice paper.

I tried using legal sized paper and it printed the right size but the colors come out looking faded whenever I print any large images, not just the covers from the site. Red looks more like pink, black like grey, etc. I think the printer does this to conserve ink, but even if I set it to the best quality printing it still does it.

Looking online, this printer (a Samsung CLP-315w) doesn't have good reviews for its print quality. I'm guessing my best option would be to go to a place like Staples and hope whoever is working doesn't have issues with printing copyrighted images.

Nice paper in the proper size is hard to come by. Legal sized paper, as far as I can find, comes in plain white sheets, and plain white sheets that are composed partially of recycled paper. No gloss, semi-gloss, or matte finish that I can find.

With a lack of Paypal and legal paper, I was unable to come across bulk cases.  So a simple solution, boxed genesis titles.  When an image (Like NES titles) are printed on 8 x 11 in preview with "fit to whole page" unchecked, I managed to use an 8 x 11 sheet to cover the entire genesis cover.  I'll post pics soon.  :P

Let's dive into this Lotusoftheleaf. :)

HOW TO GET 8.5 x 11 COVERS for NES and SNES Titles Using Genesis Cases

This image of course, a disregarded EA case, I believe a bad case of Charles Barkley Shit up and Jam.  Regardless, it is regular, standard size.  (very close to that of the sonic titles, and of ecco the dolphin, NOT the size of the much larger cases like john madden football, etc.

As you can see, NES titles fit beautifully in here, with room for the manuals, although I'm figuring out still how to place them in... perhaps a plastic card sleeve of some sort...

I printed my image from the university's library for 50 cents a color copy, but is crisp and has a great image.  Funny enough, the size is 8.5 x 11".  Now I just opened the downloaded image on windows (there) into preview, and set paper to letter (8.5 x 11), and unchecked the box that makes the image fit to window.  The result was a copy the size I show. Of course, the reason it looks so wanky is the fact that it was already cut out and put into the case.  I put it on an 8.5 x 11 for show.

The 8.5 x 11 image cut out and placed inside the genesis case.  The distance from the edges of the case to the image are extremely small, perhaps a mini headphone jack's distance from each side.... like 2 mm? Guessing, but regardless, the spine fits beautifully and makes a beautiful case

Yes, I realize that Urban Champion doesn't go with Mike Tyson's, but it's all I had laying around on campus.

Hope this helps you out!

Hate to post again, but to be noted, I have also fit in SNES games into the case with ease.  I'm not sure however, about the manuals.  N64 games need the larger case I believe, like John Madden Football, but are too short for N64 manuals.  Being that the NES cover fit perfectly (or close to) I assume that all covers for Universal Game Cases fit in nicely.  8)

N64 games are smaller than NES and SNES games, thickness is the same.

SNES, N64 and large NES (and Jaguar) manuals are same size.
