Build quality is 100% better on the original componet cables.
It's the same with PS2/Xbox Component cables. I owned third party cables and they all sucked then I went and invested in some monster component cables and wow those are really nice!
Never save money on cables they are crucial for picture quality and long-life depends on quality too!

Monster cables are WAY overpriced for the features they have, plus the company engages in shady practices (such as bullying small cable manufacturers into paying licensing fees, even if said small cable manufacture isn't actually infringing on any of Monster's patents)
High quality cables are important sure, but hell even monoprice sells nice, gold-plated cables and whatnot for a fraction of the price that monster tries to rip people off at. Telling people to "never save money" on cables is silly to me, all you need is simply to avoid those cheap, poorly-built 3-in-1 type 3rd party ones.

--- Quote from: wiggy on March 24, 2012, 11:12:27 PM ---^^^ Everyone who?! I mean, seriously, how many people are actually looking for 'Cube component video cables at this point? I can't imagine very many.

Believe it or not, there's quite a few folks out there who'd love to have their GBPlayer running in 480p.
Besides, if there was no demand for these cables, they wouldn't be selling for $70 now would they?

There are quite a few folks within really small, dorky communities like ours, but we're taking about a really small group of people. And Bob explained why the price is as such. Besides, we all know that something produced in low volume that has some value to collectors will often remain pricey. That's why Dreamcast broadband adapters are still expensive. It's not because "everyone" wants them, but there are folks like us who will pay the premium.

And if it was that easy for people like us to get those cables for $5, that's what all of us would do.

For us, yes. I guess I just mistook your "everyone" for a larger chunk of the gamer population ;)

Close, but the action was more like swinging Gigaton hammer resulting spammer splattering in to gory mess.

The store sent the wrong cables, they are trying another store. :\
