Family Fun Fitness/ Power Pad series with matching spines
marioxb:
As suggested by Arseen, here is a project I'm working on. The Family Fun Fitness series with matching spines. Only two of these were released in the US branded as such. Athletic World and Stadium Events. I'm sure everyone knows the story by now. These two games were of course re-released as Power Pad games, Athletic World and World Class Track Meet, respectively. In Japan, there were 10 games in the series, five of which made it out in English. Then there was the US (PAL?) only release of Short Order/ Egg-splode!
These are the games:
Family Fun Fitness:
1. Athletic World
2. Stadium Events (later released as World Class Track Meet)
3. Dance Aerobics
4. Street Cop (#6 in Japan)
5. Super Team Games (#7 in Japan)
6. Short Order/ Eggsplode! (not released in Japan)
Of course, Japan series 4,5 and 8-10 never made it out of Japan. The above order is based on the Japanese numbering.
Here is the order I believe they were released for the Power Pad, using the re-release date of Stadium Events as World Class Track Meet. I'm guessing Athletic World was re-released in '89 in the US, since it's not mentioned on the back of the Power Pad box (only the first three games below are).
Power Pad:
1. World Class Track Meet (8/88)
2. Super Team Games (11/88)
3. Dance Aerobics (3/89)
4. Athletic World (89?)
5. Street Cop (6/89)
6. Short Order/ Eggsplode! (12/89)
Anyway, using the Stadium Events scan on the site (which may be based on the PAL version, there are a few differences when comparing to pics of the US version, such as the one guy on the cover looks black, but on the pics of the US version I've seen, he just looks tan.) as a base, I started work on a close to exact replica of the rare US version, in "retail" format.
Here's what I have so far:
I also used the same scan to make a replica of Athletic World:
The other 5 games (including Short Order/ Egg-splode) were only released with Power Pad branding outside of Japan. That being said, I still made (am making, actually) matching covers for all of the games.
Since no one can actually afford Stadium Events in the US, you can pretend you have it:
Anyway, I'm making multiple versions of each game. Power Pad branded and Family Fun Fitness branded on each, and each with "Retail" spines and NES banner spines.
Here are some examples:
Arseen:
Happy, happy, joy, joy.
And by looking the time stamp on your post you might have posted just before end of my birthday in US time (7.5 hours too late in Finnish time).
Those series look nice.
Please do whole serie including Japanese games too. I'll buy those too eventually.
sheep2001:
Happy (belated) birthday. Hope you had a good one!
Arseen:
Thank you.
Actually it was just normal day.
One sister had to go to christening of friends baby with his boy friend, so that was two off from the party list)
Another sister is expecting, and they won't let drunken father to the maternity ward, so that's another two off from the list.
So we decided to skip the birthday till later.
We did have combined birthday dinner in restaurant with two of my sisters (sister #3's birthday is on March 14th and sister #7 has BD on March 9th).
Count nine moths back and you might figure out why most Finnish kids are born around this time.
UncleBob:
Nice. :D
