It saddens me that because of the Ninja Turtles license being taken away from Konami (aka Ultra) that we will most likely never see re-releases of the 5 best TMNT games of all time - the ones based on the original series!

Recently, Konami's license expired and the original TMNT was pulled from the Virtual Console.  I'm curious to know everyone's favorite game in the original series for Home Consoles.  Please cast a vote.  Thank you and let's hope someday a game disc is released with all 5 so even when the license expires we can still hold a tangible copy.

There is actually a remake of Turtles in time for Xbox/PS3, so it doesn't seem like it's impossible to make something like that happen.

My vote is for the first arcade game, not the crummy NES version.

Or, you could just do what any old-school gamer does and buy actual copies of the games. Nobody's gonna fucking take my copies away because of some BS licensing issue.

Your point is all the more apt as, if I'm not mistaken, the remake of Turtles in Time (and the original arcade game on XBLA) has also been removed.

From Wikipedia:

"The arcade version of Ninja Turtles is included as a hidden bonus game in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2: Battle Nexus for the PlayStation 2, Xbox, and GameCube. The version featured in the game is a port of the original arcade version, but with altered music and most of the voice clips edited out."

Just thought some of you would be interested. =)

That, and this, (taken from memory):

Was not aware of that (if it is indeed the case).  Either way, my point still stands, which is to simply pick up hard copies.  I hate the idea that a company can simply revoke a license to use a property without notice (see the almost laughably ironic case in which Amazon revoked everyone's Kindle copy of Fahrenheit 451 without notice because of a licensing issue).  This is my biggest gripe with digital copies of ANYTHING.  The ability to use a piece of digital media can be taken away.  Also, it's entirely possible to lose the use of it because of a hardware change/upgrade, plus you have no ability to back-up the product (which you actually do have to right to do with software that you own a hard copy of).

edit: I wonder if my license for said Xbox Turtles game has been revoked.  I would be seriously pissed if I was no longer able to play it, furthering my disdain for DLC >:(

Makes me want to pick up copies of both.

Does anyone like my idea of a limited edition Konami release of all five original games on one game disc?  The 5 home console games and maybe the arcade versions as 2 bonus games.  That would be a killer collection.

I'd love to see a collection similar to the "Mega Man" anniversary, from a few years ago. They could use better graphics and and sound for the first and third NES games, along with an accurate port of the arcade game, "Turtles in Time", and "Tournament Fighters". "Hyperstone Heist" would be cool for completists, too.

I'm thinking more along the lines of no updated graphics, just a straight up port - like the mega man collection!  TMNT 1-5 (5 being hyperstone) and then the 2 arcade versions as they were in the arcade.

I wish more of you guys would vote in the poll  :-\
These 5 games always meant a lot to me, I'm surprised this isn't getting more attention.  I thought the TMNT games were popular as hell back in the day!

My mistake; I thought the "anniversary collection" had been updated. I guess I got it confused with "Wily Wars". The franchise is still popular today, as evidenced by the new live-action film slated for 2013. Sadly, I doubt such a collection would be placed on disc, since so many seem bent on this downloadable garbage. :(

Knowing the general public's luck when it comes to getting their hands on any of the re-released Konami TMNT games (see previous parts of this thread), we'd probably most likely wind up with a collection of all the Ubisoft published games before we'd see a Konami collection.

However, I would definitely like to see a Konami collection. I already own cartridges of TMNT 1-4, but I never did own a download copy of either arcade game. I hope such a collection would include the Tournament Fighters games. Unless I am mistaken, the TMNT tournament fighters for NES is the only one-on-one fighting game for that system to be commercially released (unless of course you count Urban Champion, which you DON'T).

I understand your passion here, mariocaseman. TMNT was my life when I was young. I was sure to vote in your poll. While I really, really enjoyed both The Manhattan Project and Turtles in Time, I had to go with the one that I ultimately played more, and that was Turtles in Time.

I would vote, but as stated before, my choice is missing from the list...
