So, I had this great (depending on your point of view and level of maturity) idea...

How many of you are familiar with GameStop and Battletoads?

http://knowyourmeme.com/memes/battletoads-preorder

I was thinking - you know how GameStop always has empty displays cases up for games that you can pre-order?  What fun it would be to create some mock covers for games that don't exist (For example, Battletoads Wii) with the GameStop Preorder splash on them, print 'em out, case 'em in junk cases (got a DS case you miscut?  What about all the "eco" Wii/360/PS3 cases you've swapped out?) and sneak them onto the shelves as a little bit of non-violent misconduct.

Thoughts? :D

I'm just busting your chops.  The "except" made the fact that customers were fooled by it sound like a problem, whereas I see it as pretty freakin' hilarious ;D

  • Think off-center.
My brother used to work for them and told me the story. I've actually been in a store to hear one of those calls lol. This needs to happen!

While it sounds a little funny, I wouldn't risk doing something like that. You never know when some tempermental store clerk would go nuts over it.

An even better troll is to change the label of a ds game and trade it in... not saying I did anything like that, though they did take in my Final Fantasy XII demo disc one time... was surreal.

An even better troll is to change the label of a ds game and trade it in... Managed to get a hell of a profit buying shitty games for $15 or less and then trading them in for $15+ after changing the label to a mario game, such as Mario Kart or Yoshi's Island.

You can get fined and/or arrested for that actually.  The little signature you provide is a legal document stating what you trade in is your property and what you are trading in is what is shown in the pad.   It would be out of Gamestop's hands at that point and you would be in legal trouble for knowingly selling counterfeit goods. I would not suggest that .... I've seen a handful of people get busted in the past for it.

Plus that's just a dick move because you'll fuck over whoever buys the game next.  Gotta love ruining some little kids birthday or Christmas morning.   >:(

I'm with this guy.

That pretty much makes you a huge asshole.  I bought a copy of TMNT Tournament Fighters used when I was like 12 only to find that someone had swapped Home Alone into it.  The store that I bought it from didn't believe me.  It wasn't until my mother went in and made a big scene that they refunded my money.

Again, you're an asshole.

Proof positive that Gamestop doesn't care what you trade in, be it bootleg or whatever.(Pretty sure few, if any, of the original traders got caught due to negligence)

Yeah, don't be a douche.  My idea is a fun joke, no one gets hurt (unless you get that crazy customer who really wants the copy of Super Mario 64 for the 360... see, fun cases like that!)
