In the early to mid 1990s, I was just a kid and in a store with my dad shopping for my 4th NES game!  I came across a game in which the box was either dark blue or black, it had a picture on the front of what appeared to be a golden sun with a face on it.  At the time, it was too expensive and I could not buy it.  Now, I cannot remember the name of that mystery game!  I thought it was "Golden Sun" but that game was never released for the NES.  Anyone have any ideas what game I saw?  Please provide a link to the cover if you do.

Was it this?

...if so, good thing you didn't buy this pretty worthless excuse for a 'game'

Boy I own a LOT of NES games and can't think of one that you are describing other than Taboo. If it's not Taboo, try asking over at NintendoAge. Someone there will probably know.

Wow... 90 minutes to upload this whole list to show my POV on the situation.  Rediculous...

Anyways, here is a list (with pictures) of all the games that I own for NES.  As you can see, Taboo is the only game with a "Sun" on the cover.  Maybe if you Youtube'd the gameplay, hell I'll even do it for you :: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zphwly0HhsY  :: you will have a better chance of eliminating it if it was the game or not.

I am not stating that this is a complete list of NES games (as I only have about 40-45% off the NTSC NES Games), however I am surprised that there are no websites that have a listing like what I created (using Game Collector).  Anyways, if you want to take a look at the covers of (some) NES games, here is a list for you.
