So, I wanted to make a case for my SNES Game Genie, Satellaview cart, N64 GameShark (even though some seem able to shoehorn them into UGCs), and a couple of other items that wouldn't fit into a UGC.

Found these at a local computer store (UniKeep cases on Amazon.com).  So far they've proven perfect for these larger items.  They aren't cheap like UGCs (4 bucks a pop unless purchased in bulk), but if you only need a few and you're totally OCD like me, then it's worth it so that you can store and display these oddball items. Anywho, less blah blah and more pics.

You will need some big-ass paper if you want to print covers for these.  The template is about 5"x14", so you'll have to grab a pack of 13"x19" and slice it down the center lengthwise which yields two usable sheets for these cases.

I've only finished the Genie and Satellaview cases so far, but I'll get the others taken care of in the next day or so.

Man, no love for the UniKeep cases, eh?

Well, I got two more all wrapped up.  I'll snap a pic on my shelves later.  Maybe seeing 'em in action will get folks excited :P

These a pretty cool, and I could see several good uses for them for me! Would you mind snapping a pic of how it looks lined up next to a UGC and a DS case? I'm curious what the height is like.

Gladly!  I'll snap a pic in a bit.

They are pretty damned thick, which means they hold any Gameshark you wanna shove in them, as well as all sorts of oddly sized and shaped items.  I think I'm gonna use the last one that I have on hand for my E-Reader ;D

Those could be good for controller storage. But that would be really OCD.

That's my kind of OCD. Hadn't even thought of that. I'll grab a bunch of controllers at let you know what fits and what doesn't.

from the size, I can tell

NES
European Atari 7800
SNES
Sega Genesis
3DO
CD-i (regular controller variant)
Wii (separate from attachments)
and possibly first run PS1 controllers.

I'm pretty sure most of those won't fit now that I'm looking at it again, but I'll try it out in a bit and post results either way ;)

The only controller that I own that actually fits is a JP Super Famicom.  It's cord is about 2 feet shorter than the US version, and that's the only reason that it will fit :/

Genesis - Controller fits, cord would need to be wound in a crazy manner to fit.

Old, OLD PS1 controller - Controller sorta fits, but again, the cord is what really gets in the way.

Now, in my recollection, they do make bigger versions of these as well.  Lemme go look 'em up again...

edit: OK, here's a 50 disc case that's considerably thicker, but the same length and height-wise (2.25" versus 1.68").  I think I may grab a 20 pack of these and report back.  Even if controllers won't fit, I KNOW I can find plenty of uses for these things.  It's 42.00 shipped to my door.  I think I may just do it.  I can deal with shelling out 42 bucks for something like this.

Man, I'm glad I didn't throw the sleeves away.  This about the only time my pack rat-ness has actually paid off LOL!  Can't believe this wasn't the 1st thing that I thought of when doing this...

Really? I got my US SNES controller in a UGC case. Admittedly, I'd not an easy fit, but it can be done.

The UGC is a lot taller.  More room to make a large controller loop.  These are really thick, but not terribly wide or tall.

You know it looks like this would be a good case for the official wireless Genesis controllers and their receiver. I know if I had a set I would love to case them up.
