Notes: cacography is corrected. Original photos of Brett Hull and Al Michaels
have been obtained from the scan available at AtariGuide website. The photos
used have been cleaned and restored as best as possible without damaging the
overall appearance. I've made every effort to reproduce the manual as close
to the original as possible, however, there may be a few minor differences:
the ice-rink background image may not be aligned with the text as it is within the
original manual; this is due, largely in part, to the use of justified alignment by
the original creators. My reproduction has been entirely created within the
Ulead PhotoImpact graphic editor and not within document creation software.
The screen captures used within my reproduction have been created to match the
originals. However, color differences may be noticeable.

The manual has cost me two months of my life. I've spent extra time on the
manual as a way of saying Thank You to akrate69, Arseen, Shoothimnow and
Sheep and other members for sharing raw scans. I am still in need of many
scans so please continue to share.

NTSC-U Cart labels for Dragon Quest I&II

*Aiming to be consistent with ENIX USA published titles around the same time in 93* (So Purple Enix logo instead of Green like in the Japanese ones) (and this one is based along the lines of Soul Blazer and Actrasier 2)

update:

still working on a vertical cover:

http://postimg.org/image/uwht0nadr/

manual and covers will be posted soon.
Oz has been a battle for me. uggh. the walkthrough at gamefaqs is garbage, so i had to learn the game on my own. I've started a walkthrough for this game too. The game is not that bad when you learn how to play it. Anyway, spending way too much time on this one but I am so very happy with the results - i will not need any other art for this one as all of my efforts are good enough to move on.

soon ...

Thanks for the offer but I like mine. My fonts are a better match, I redesigned the flower bullet, I'm recreating the logo and my screen captures are near 100% retail. besides, I like the bubble and the wand (custom part.) I have a bubble-free/wand-free version too with white flower bullets. Plus, I fit all of the text on the box. I'm making the covers to accompany my manual reproduction. Members can download it if they like it. More covers are better. Thanks for posting. I'm sure that someone will make use of it. I will post mine when it's finished and members will have two Oz verticals. Thank you for offering. You're a good member.  :)

I am also making my own template.

ps. Shenske template has a transparent object (or layer) and after I merge the gray box logo, the logo is darker gray - nice job Shenske. The box is too bright without merging. I like the transparent layer. Thanks for using it  :)

update:
Wizard of Oz is almost finished. I am tired from this manual. I did not expect so many challenges. The cover work and the logo have held me back about two weeks. I broke down the cover into four components to restore it for the manual and for the vertical/horizontal covers. I will be uploading all of my work for others to use. both PhotoImpact objects and psd format.

I have a few pc jobs today, so i will not be working on the manual much today.
expect a post within the next week to a week and a half.
I am nearly finished with three covers and this manual.

screen caps, covers, manual and more will be posted soon.
I cannot wait to put this one behind me. Brett Hull only cost 2 months. Wizard of Oz is already 2.5 months of work. I am happy with it. I know that everyone will like it. I may end up buying a copy and updating the manual in the future.

anyway, post coming soon...

This is a cool idea.  I was thinking about doing something like this a while ago, but haven't gotten very far.  I was trying to print, cut and staple a manual together myself, but the problem is, these scans, and at least one other that I know I found a while ago, are done of the open book, so in sequence.  But what I would need to do is print pages that had page 1 and the last page together, and 2 and 2nd last, etc. etc. So that it would staple together nicely.

Has anyone done anything like that yet?

This metroid manual would be the first one I want to make:

I've thought about that whenever I began creating the Oz manual. I am not printing manuals; I've decided to keep digital copies. I have printed manuals in the past and I usually print manuals like a greeting card - front and back. I use semi-gloss paper. However, I could easily rearrange the pages of my reproductions. I am thinking that I will do so and upload Hull and Oz in that manner - digital format (sequential) and print format.

I had to fight with sizing. Measurement of snes is 1395x1012 but this size is not working for me. I've settled with 1381x1008.

anyway, I will upload both formats. Perhaps we, as a community, can settle on a template.
printing opinions wanted ...

I'm in favor of a Metroid repro. good idea to add NES manuals.
By the way, I have downloaded a marked copy of Nightmare on Elm Street poster and cleaned it a few years ago. I could add the poster here too, thus, we can add posters/maps project.

Spoonman, I've seen that name before. maybe a watermark on box scans? the name sounds familiar. hmm.

update

Oz is very difficult to reproduce at a high quality. I have spent over a year on this one. I have alot of touch up work to do yet. I have managed to capture alot of fine details in the image for the cover. I have some personal matters to deal with and I will not be working on covers or manuals now for a few days. I am almost finished with Oz and I will be posting it as soon as it is complete.

Thanks for reading. Be back soon ...
