Covers in need of an...Upgrade? Let me know!

sadikyo:
Hello everybody,

I simply don't have enough time to make a bunch of new covers, but for my own personal collection, I've often modified the covers I downloaded to improve the quality / fix minor issues.  This is NOT to complain about existing covers - I recognize that plenty of people have spent HOURS and HOURS of hard work making these covers, and for that I am eternally grateful.  But I'm a little OCD, so before printing, I usually edit them to my own liking.

I've been very pleased with the results, so I was curious if any of you are having trouble with some covers that have already been created / approved before the increase in quality standards / covers that have small issues, faded colors, etc.  I'm willing to try to correct some as I have time.

I have no idea if anyone will be interested in this or not, but if you have some covers that just need a little special touch - let me know and I'll see what I can do!

Thanks :)

Why, just the other day I was rifling through my game cases and I found a couple of covers that need a few touch ups, as well as some that simply don't fit in with the others. Before I list those, however, I thought I might point you to this thread, sadikyo, where you may find more of what you are looking for.

On this particular page, you might notice a post of mine, pointing out mistakes on the NES Zelda and Zelda 2 covers, as well as mentioning the Super Mario All-Stars cover. These are some of the biggest offenders in my collection, as they simply aren't up to standards.

That being said, I will soon be printing another large crop of covers for recently acquired games, and not only would I love to reprint some snazzy updates to those mentioned, but I also have a few others that I could request you touch up. It would be a big help and much appreciated. Let me know if you're up for it!

Hey, thanks for the link!

I guess I was referring more to just general quality issues as opposed to "mistakes," but I think that thread is probably the closest to what I was asking about.

I'm certainly willing to help *try* to upgrade covers --- sometimes they are just in need of a new raw scan, other times they can probably be improved.  For example, the Super Mario All Stars cover on here (retail) is just...well, in need of an update :)    A new scan would probably be good, but I can DEFINITELY at least improve what is there.  I think I've already done that one in the past.

Anyway, go ahead and give me your list of covers that need improvement - the ones you mentioned already, and also the new ones you are wanting, and I can see what I can do.

I'm no *expert* by any means, but this will be good practice for improving my skills, and hopefully help you out as well.

Thanks.
Pikmin Overlord:
Sweet, sadikyo. I appreciate the offer. How about these two to begin with. They both have the same issue: their spines are inconsistent with the majority of other SNES horizontal (retail) covers as they have the "Super Nintendo" things plastered all over them rather than the publisher's logos (or whatever the original might have on it).

SNES

Battletoads in Battlemaniacs
Ys III: Wanderers from Ys

Also, the Ys cover could use some new screen shots on the back. If you look closely, it's as if someone took pictures of the game running on their TV.
sadikyo:
Hmmmm, well, I'd really need to see the raw scans to get the original side back.  I don't know how picky you are with these covers --- I personally like them to be authentic as possible, close to the original box (same images on back, etc.)  Everyone's preferences are different there.  Do you have more that need improving?  I've already modified a bunch for my own collection so if you have a bigger list I can see which ones I have.
