Cool, I'll have to ask him.  I'm already trying to come up with ideas for creating a couple of mosaics myself to complete the set...

The back is a LOT less intense when printed, but it's still pretty crazy.  Luckily it's pretty small scale once printed, and doesn't overwhelm the senses like it does when blown up and illuminated on a monitor.

I may tone it down a but before properly uploading it.  Don't wanna give anyone vertigo or anything like that  :P

I did not save that Tetris file with any of the outlined blocks :/

So, that Zelda box set.  I couldn't help but start to tinker with it today...

I'm going to make it a 10 game set.  That will cover every portable that I can think of (not counting Awakening and Awakening DX as 2 separate games).  Any dispute over that?  I've got:

3DS

Ocarina of Time

DS

Spirit Tracks
Phantom Hourglass

GBA

Minish Cap
Link to the Past
Zelda I
Zelda II

GBC

Link's Awakening DX
Oracle of Seasons
Oracle of Ages

That seem about right?  Anything that you guys think I should include or not include?

The list looks about right. And I see you got some nice shiny gold sheets to work with. Those sheets actually remind me of a texture I used when making some of my custom Legend of Zelda cases (of which only 1 did I ever complete. I need to get back onto that). I have a gold texture that I use a lot, and I even manipulated it a bit to get a similar looking green texture, which works really well for Legend of Zelda (and is what I used the the title in my Four Swords Adventures cover). I've put it on my box.net account, in case you want to use it, or if you want to use the technique I used to make my gold color green, but with a scan of your sheets instead (as my texture has a noticeable change from light to dark, while scanning your sheets would create an even lighting)

I wanted to make it with some proper metallic in the cover, and I found this at the art supply store today while grabbing Xacto blades, and I got totally pumped to start this project.

Thanks for the link.  I'll add it the collection :)  Luckily, I have a TON of high res textures that I grabbed from a former employer while I worked there.  We'd purchased licenses for nearly a hundred background/texture images (stone, metals, concrete, paper, etc) for use as backdrops for an idiotic device they were putting together.  The device flopped, the company went under, but at least I got some cool images out of it  ;D

HOW do you manage to get the GBA covers to fill the entire case? I print in Photoshop without scaling to media and mine are always a few millimeters too small.

Mine cover the same amount of the case as yours (as do OEM covers).  I made my template using the exact dimensions of an original sleeve, so it's not odd that you have that small amount of extra space once it's in the sleeve.

If you really want, then just stretch the overall width about 2-3mm.

So, finished up all my GB/GBC/GBA titles last night (I was getting pretty punchy towards the end and started just having the artwork literally break my template, see attached).

Now that I'm done, I realize just how many GB titles I don't own that I really "need to".  Dammit.  If I thought making cases for games would lead me to buying a bunch more games, then I prolly woulda giving it a 2nd thought before undertaking the project.

I'm Uhmerikan and I made it!

Although, it should be noted that I'm far less inhibited or reserved than most.

Plus, think about it, is Wario not supposed to be the antithesis of Mario?  And as such, wouldn't it make sense that he be a giant prick (which is pretty much is already, just in a very PG sort of way).  Like I  said, was getting punchy and I was sick of looking at cutesy artwork.  I needed a little "fuck off" in my work last night.

Thus the dare of making the three NES covers stands.

Feel free to go overboard.
