Oh man, I'm so excited!  I have this Japanese NGPC, the super awesome smaller revision, and it's had a broken pin in the cartridge bay since I got it (for free).  So, I finally got around to an attempted repair this morning and it was a total success!  Woo-hoo!  I had to steal a pin from a Dreamcast controller VMU connector (don't worry, the controller was already just a spare parts unit) and give it a little love to make it fit and work, but it did indeed work!

Thank you, Dreamcast controller :)

Which one of these is not like the other...

What's wrong with it?

Most likely, it'll just need a new screen. Is it an original Gameboy brick?  If so, it would be pretty cool to try and retrofit a GBP screen into it.

So, I bought 3 busted 3DS units on eBay last week knowing good and well that all of them are under warranty since the red version hasn't even been out for 12 months yet.  They're all pretty much brand new.  Store returns that just sat around I guess.  Either way, looked 'em up, they're good to go in for repair!  Paid 200 bucks for what will amount to 3 brand new units when all is said and done.  I'm pretty amped.  I'm taking one, and there's a pair of twins across the street that claimed the other two.  About 65 bucks a pop for the each of us.  I feel like I got a pretty good deal ;)

What is broken?

Still if you open those up the warranty is gone. IF they are still under warranty i would just send them to Nintendo to get them fixed AND keep my warranty.

That's what I'm saying, all broken, sending in for warranty ;)

They each have a sort of different issue.  One won't charge, one won't stay powered up (turns on, then shuts off 2 seconds later), and the 3rd works for about 1-2 minutes before giving me an error message telling me to turn the unit off.  All are basically brand new, including the boxes (obviously), all paperwork, chargers, cradles, etc.  One was registered when it originally sold, which meant just filling out the online warranty claim info, and the other two weren't registered by the original retailer.  A quick phone call and they're on their way as well (ALL red 3DS systems are still under warranty, which is a big part of why I risked buying this auction).

Cheers Wig!

Does anyone know where to purchase the game cases he used for his PS1 games? They look awesome, also wondering if they can fit multiple disks in them.

I'm guessing that they're 14mm poly cases.

Not sure how you buy from that site. It doesn't seem really obvious while searching on my phone :/

On a side note, I keep buying "broken" GBA SPs in order to steal the front light and anti-glare to apply to other consoles (working on a NGPC light and a Swan Crystal light), but two of that last three that I bought work perfectly. I'm having a hard time cutting up perfectly good GBAs for this project. I wish people understood that a mild cleaning or a new battery would make these damned things work.  I may just start re-selling these stupid things. The last one I picked up was 8 bucks shipped. Works perfectly and is in really good shape.  Hell, the only reason the 3rd doesn't work is because the top half had literally been torn off.

I guess this isn't really much of anything to complain about. I am getting MORE than what's advertised with these damned things.
