Damn that's awesome.  My son would love that.  Don't let my wife see it or she'll have me build something similar which wouldn't look nearly that good. :D
Maybe, just once, someone will call me "sir" without adding, "you're making a scene."

The parking lot looks great!  And the puzzle like pieces make for expanding it as easy as just building more!

Also, an off note but time sure flies.  I remember when you announced to us the birth of your son like it was just yesterday and now he's getting so big.  Looking at my nephew too who is 1.5 years old I just can't believe how fast he's grown.

Thanks guys!  I'd be lying if I said I didn't have a good time making it.

Yeah, the puzzle thing was intended to make it easy to expand his little town as he gets older.  He's still enjoying it and luckily hasn't been able to destroy it yet, despite sitting and standing on it on occasion. Plywood is tougher stuff than I thought :)

I've been trying to assemble this for months now.  Finally got it done and mounted :D

Looks good.   I know how you are supporting the Micros, but I'm wondering how the NGPCs are supported since the cart goes in from the top.

What kind of wood are you using for you frames?

Thanks. It's a little tricky. There are little suports underneath that fit into the headphone jack on the bottom of the NGPC, and then there's a slotted bar on top which protrudes from the back wall that falls in line with the cartridge port. A slat goes into the slot and into the cartridge port itself to hold it in place. I'm gonna guess that it's kinda hard to visualize :-\ I'll post more pics of it later.

Oh, and it's just select pine.

I had to pull out my NGPC to look at it, but I get what you are saying.  That's awesome.  Love the look.  I wouldn't mind trying to make something like that someday, but I don't have enough portables to fill it up, unless I decide to make one display case for all of my different portables together.

Oh, and it's just select pine.

That was actually going to be my guess.  My wife wanted a small DVD shelf for all of our Disney/kids movies and the spot where we wanted it to go requried a very specific size that I could not find online.  So I decided to make one myself which turned out pretty good (still need to stain the wood).  It's pretty straight forward design.  I didn't even bother taking a picture of it.  I also made mine it out of select pine which I think looks pretty good.  I really wanted to do it in oak, but I don't understand how anyone can afford to make anything out of oak with the prices they were charging for a board.  Would have cost more than 3 times as much to get the same boards in oak out where I live.  I'll pass on that.

DSi XL collection is complete for now. There are 3 ugly JP-only limited models that I don't really want.

Normal color GBC collection is done thanks to a berry arriving last week. Also pictures are JP-only transparent and Midnight Blue, plus aftermarket she'll orange and smoke/translucent black.  Have a Pokemon GBC as well, just needs some love before it goes on display (or up for sale).

And current 3DS XL/LL & New 3DS XL collection.

Thanks folks.

The wifey and I are going to try and sell the house in the next couple of months. Not looking forward to making more shelving (well, I sorta am). I think this time around I won't do built-ins
