Thanks.  I should have added in that last post that the case on the left was a factory seam on one of Shadowfox's cases.  My seam was the one on the right.  Probably obvious, but I wanted to make sure before anyone starts to think otherwise.
Maybe, just once, someone will call me "sir" without adding, "you're making a scene."

Question: why didn't you just use super-glue or a similar transparent adhesive, on top of the clear film's edge? If done carefully, there'd be no need to melt anything.

I don't like to use glue when working with anything clear.

But like Dr.Argon mentioned, there are multiple ways of doing it.  If you're comfortable with that method, I would say go for it.  I'm happy with my results, and next time I might even try a smaller soldering iron tip to see if I can get a smaller seam.

By the way, if you have a picture of a case with the film held on with glue, I would like to see those results. ;D

I haven't tried any projects like this myself; it was just a suggestion, based on the compared picture.

Why don't you try heating a little piece of metal like this one or thinner?

And after that you can use a ruler and one of this to cut the excess of clear film paper

The bar should be the same dimension as the hight of the case

^^^ not worth it, trust me. A 10 dollar soldering iron and a block of wood do the job very, VERY well, especially after a little practice.  Not to mention finding a way to evenly heat and then handle a metal bar like that would be a headache :-\

It would be more like an iron machine with sometime to grab it that way you can heat in a stove but with that metal stick, that way you'll have more precision and a unified job

Don't know if it was clear what i've try to say :P lol

What do you think?

Oh, I got what you meant :)  I'll snap some pics of what a block o' wood and cheap-o soldering iron can do.  I just can't imagine it being worth the money and time it would take to build something that's more like what you're thinking of unless you're planning on doing hundreds upon hundreds of cases :-\

Well, out of space on the ol' portables shelf (and just about everywhere else too :-\)

I can...erm....look after some for you?  A few of those micros perhaps?   ::)

Don't micros fit in a single UGC?

They do (as well as a number of other portables), but I was going for uniformity, which is costing me more space than I can currently afford :P

Also, I'm only missing one micro now.  The Pokémon Center variant (well, and the uber rare Toonami edition, which I'm not holding my breath for).
