I myself would not pay more for an officially released game with a painted shell, however I have a friend that goes apeshit over colored game carts for snes games like the maximum carnage red. For a homebrew or hack, I would much preffer a painted shell vs a grey stock one. Maybe offer limited runs of the games you produce in a fancy shell, say 5 or 10% of the total amount made, maybe even sign the inside of the cart like Wozniac apple IIgs. Wigniac editions maybe

Well ALL the games we produce have fancy shells, that's just a given at this point

I was just curious if custom normal games were something worth looking into.

might be cool/economical to just sell the custom replacement shells and not the game boards.  it's easy enough to swap out the board.  you could buy some gamebits in bulk and sell them, too
