Am indeed from Ohio, and I am indeed in lake effect hell!  We've got about 2' sitting outside right now.  Took me 1.5 hours to get home from the office last night.  It's normally a 20 minute drive  :-[

But I did manage to make it in today (albeit around 3:00), and I did manage to finish up the switch.  Setting it up right now.  Hopefully I didn't screw anything up...

I'm from Marion area, north of Columbus by about 30ish miles on 23.  no snow today, just COLD, and lots of it. Sure am glad I work from home :D

I was a dairy farmer for 12 years though, working daily in this crap.  That sucked muchly.

It finally stopped snowing here last night. Thank goodness!

I had a snow day at school today, not sure how deep the snow was, guessing around a foot.
I was the only person out of the 3 - 4 other bakery staff members to show up to my job today, spent 2 hours standing around doing nothing because my manager was not their to assign anything, but I did have a load or boxes to take care of and it took me 2 hours.
Getting paid to stand around is fun. I wish it happened more often. I am normally working till the last second, my manager likes to assign more than what could be done.

Oddly the office building that we're in was rather full yesterday, despite the mountains of snow everywhere. Even more full than it is on a good day.

Here are the last few pics of the Extron mod.  Swiss cheesed a bit to run the wires where I'd like.

Wires taped down and whatnot.

All set to reassemble.

And then just the final touch.

Works perfectly and it keeps the entire unit as tidy as possible, with no pigtail wires or anything dangling from the back. Couldn't be happier!

Sorry for my question and my ignorance maybe on this, but for what is that?  :P

No need to be sorry. It is sort of strange unless you know what it is.

It's a large, rather fancy A/V switch made by a company called Extron. They make professional grade A/V equipment that gets used in broadcast TV and the like. This particular box has 8 inputs and 8 outputs and can be configured most any way you like. I've configured mine to use all 8 inputs (3 component vid, 3 S-vid, and 2 composite) and 3 outputs (to match the 3 types of input).

They're seriously nice bits of hardware. If I were to have purchased this thig new, it would have cost me a couple grand. But you can typically find them used on eBay for around 50 bucks.  They're powered, and they actually boost the signal unlike passive switches, which maintain the original signal at best, and cause signal degradation at worst.

The housing is solid aluminum. The entire effing thing is aluminum. My next project will likely be to strip the shitty-ass gray finish and either polish the housing, or have it anodized in some absurdly intense color :)

:o That sound good, amazed with your work, with everything you do

Silly Wiggy, the snow didn't stop.  It's charging it's mega-blaster for tomarrow. So make sure you bundle up for a long snowed in week, playing with your PS3, 360, and... Wuu ?
